New Character Sheet

The character sheet in the pdf book isn't the same one mooted on Mongoose's Facebook page recently, incidentally. It says in the pdf that the sheet is downloadable on the Mongoose web site, so I guess they need to sort that out shortly.

On a critical level, the sheet seems a little plain still and there is no room to enter any details of background or career development. Seeing that even D&D goes to great pains to include these things for their character sheets now, and that the chargen process of Traveller is a major selling point of the game - wouldn't it be an idea to try and have a sheet that reflects more on this sort of thing?

I'm looking at the sheet that was passed out a bit ago. Mine looks like it needs a back page for all that. I don't seen any room on the front side.

I went through several iterations of character sheet for my campaign that I custom made in Word. It had drop down lists for the skills and even calculated your attribute DMs as well as the range modifiers for your weapons automatically.

The design was meant to be filled out in Word and then printed. And after each session you could update the Word file it needed. I would attach it, but I can't. If anyone is interested in seeing what it looks like let me know.

Must-have for the character sheet:

* Accumulated Rads
* Current/Max for all attributes. (Not just Str, Dex, and End, as you can temporarily lose other attributes in some circumstances.)
* Room for detailing connections, contacts, allies, and enemies

I'm thinking a two-page character sheet would be preferable

Thoughts...

1. Need a place to track damage
2. Need more room for skills.
3. I like that the common specialties are included. But some of the ones that were skipped that I think would be included (Electronics/Computers).
4. PSI should be moved to page 2 and include the breakdown of talents.
5. Please have a page 2. There is too much to put everything into one side and a two-page character sheet will still be one piece of paper.
6. Need a place to include careers/ranks. Especially important for characters with a military rank.
7. Nice touch including living expenses.
8. Contacts, Rivals, and Enemies should have enough room for a sentence or two.

It is my intention to have a Character Record booklet (as we had in the last edition) covering absolutely everything - however, for the Core book, I am very interested in having a simple one-pager covering just the important bits.

Really? I never saw this booklet. Where can I get a copy?

Can we get a fillable PDF of the character sheet? I play with a few groups online and the lack of one has been painful.

Yep, just going to ask for a form fillable one too actually, please!

Also, I do wish we could have a simple area for recording career progress. The big booklet is nice, but I actually feel that background information on the character is important on the front sheet too - for roleplaying purposes.

Ten dollars US is a hard sell for character sheets. Especially without a preview.

Perhaps an easier fix, can we get the new character sheet in B&W? This grayscale version is extremely difficult to read when printed out.

Agreed. There needs to be a printer friendly char sheet. B&W, lose the background hexes, etc.

It would be nice to have all the common electronics and engineering specialities listed, like pilot and gun combat are.
