Hey, anybody noticed that the hull number of the Clarkstown is the same with the Hyperion? I didn't...

For all we know, if you saw the side of that second ship it would say "Hyperion".

There is a fan site that really dug into the fine details of the ships. Their explanation is that the early ships like the Hyperion wore the "21" as a construction series number. It would be like saying that the USS Enterprise was constructed as a member of the seventeen hundred series of Federation starships. I think the site owner states that if you look close enough (he might have had access to the CGI models from the series, for example), the Hyperion has a hull serial number that begins with "21". In the movie In the Beginning you see 3-4 Hyperions on "The Line" and all have the same two digit hull number. Of course when I stopped the DVD and looked, more than one of them also was named Hyperion.

There is a different "batch" of Hyperions that have "48" iirc on them. What it really comes down to is that the graphics house war recycling the ships renders and did not do the extra work to make the ships individual enough. :?

It's a bit like me placing a canon "inaccurate" hull letter of "J" on my Nova that had "S" as the ship's name's first letter. For Omegas in the series, there are at least three that are "wrong" as well.

Speaking of hull numbers, I couldn't help but notice the shiny decals on the models. New, old or otherwise, are we going to see decal sheets? :D

Anyone else think that these new ships are salt in our wounds?

New good looking models (regardless of price) but for a limited time and then gone? The whole line gone. To quote some inside joke I wasn't part of "they're all dead Dave."

Drop the miniatures but make decals for them? Odd move.. :?

There's a US company that does EA and alien (mostly Narn and Centauri) decal sheets. Think they're called Griffon Games, should be easy enough to Google. I got the EA sheet last year and it's really well done. More than enough insignia for a good sized fleet. Only drawback is that the sheets were designed for B5W so a significant portion of the decals are for the large AOG fighters (although the only ones that are unusable are some of the Starfury top decals, the Black Omega ones could easily be used for Psi Corps ships)

I received some of the new bases with an order I recently placed. Sadly the new "small" bases are the same size as GW small bases meaning they are bigger then the current Mongoose small bases. So now my Bluestars have bases far bigger then the ship itself. Ill have to try and scrounge around for some regular small bases or order some of the Small Metal bases (which my original Bluestars came with).

I was looking over all the variants of the hyperion whats everyones favourite? I think the missile variant would make a mean artillery ship. I am thinking of going for EA for my next fleet. Not sure what era tho.

MGP was making variation models while the entire line collapsed. It's like Nero when Rome burned or Bush when New Orleans drown. So the new moulds broke... Really, what does it matter?
