Nasa adds mcrometeor survey to ability of a gravitational wave detection satellite.

A scientist at NASA realized they could use an already existing probe to fulfill a secondary role...Survey the frequency of micrometers....the set up to do such a survey would be cost prohibitive as a standalone probe..but with some clever thinking, they double the value of the existing satellite by making it do two jobs.

so now they may be able to determine exactly how dirty space is, and how often a probe or ship might be at risk of getting walloped by a 22,000mph BB

Clever use of their accelerometer package. I'm sure that when they can finally get cubesats out to legrange points, it will be a fairly common project.
