Names, names, names...

I'm looking for a list of Vilani names; I'm a bit uncreative when it comes to that.
Oh, and lists for other "races" would be nice too, especially Vargr and Aslan, Sword Worlders and people from Darrian (guess where my campaign takes place).

You can find my take on Vilani names, with a very small set of examples, at http://www.freelancetraveller.com/features/culture/customs/vilnames.html. Beyond that, take a random word generator for Vilani, generate a thousand or so words, and pick the ones that sound most like names.

Take a couple of consonants or "sh" sounds, throw a bunch of "aa" and "ii" in there and you're set .

And 'u', lots of em. Try to end with a vowel. Actually, just throw more vowels anywhere.

Rodnii, Britnii, Bubbaa, ...

OK, I ran the word generator and got these:

Once again the automated tables are a bit hit and miss.

Since a list of names is probably the most useful GM aid, I was hoping someone had already done the work...

Or at least provided the link to the word generator!

I used to have it saved, but I can't seem to find it.

It was a simple format, tell it what racial language (except English!) and it would create some words, pick as desired.

It could do Droyne, Aslan, Vargr, Vilani, Zhodani etc.

DARN I wish I could find that link again.

GURPS: Traveller's core book has a list of Vilani names...

Limit it to 3 syllables and you get things like:

Hit and miss.

has a multi-language word generator, including Aslan, Vargr, Darrian, Sword Worlder, Zhodani, Vilani and a couple of minor races.

It is a great aid and everyone should have the link in their tool kit

Since we are on the subject of names, one of my groups just did a mind job on me...

I ref. there are three players. Stefan, Maria and Eva. (Yeah two ladies I know).

And just to mess with my head they decided to give their PCs what another player's name are in reality.

Player Stefan = PC Eva
Player Eva = PC Maria
Player Maria = PC Stefan

... :shock: ... My head still hurts after the first section. BUt they were laughing so much I didn't have the heart to ban this.
