Mounted combat

How do you do a mounted fight?
If a player wants the mount to attack (ie an alticamellus kick), should the rider spend a CA, or should the alticamellus spend a CA?

The way I do it, if the character commands the steed to attack, they will roll either their Lore (Animal) or Riding skill, whichever is higher, which does cost a combat action.

A combat action of the character, or a combat action of the mount, or both?

I have always played that it takes a combat action of the rider to make a non-warhorse do anything in combat, but if the rider makes a Ride roll then a warhorse uses its own combat actions.

So, a cavalry horse, riding horse or nag acts as part of the rider, using the rider's combat actions. A warhorse, on the other hand, can use its own combat actions as long as it has been directed by the rider (Ride roll).

All in my opinion, of course.

It seems reasonable. So, if you command a war horse the pc spends one combat action. Do you let the player to attack or spend more actions while the horse is attacking?

Yes, the rider can spend actions as normal. Dodging might be difficult, but attacking and parrying are fine. Movement actions would probably be controlled by the warhorse, though, unless the rider jumps from his horse.
