Their home galaxy is 10 times the size of the 1 that The Third Imperium is based in. Which means that despite only controlling 2 5's of it The Biggest of The 4 Major Races still controls the equivalent of a Empire double the size of known space

The other 3 Major Races each control 1 5th of that galaxy and although a alliance of all 3 of them could defeat the 4th and biggest of The 4 Major Races the biggest of the 4 has ensured that such a alliance would never happen

Government wise 2 of The 4 Major Races are part none-charismatic Democracy and part charismatic Dictatorship, the biggest of the 4 is A none-charismatic Democracy and the 4th is A charismatic Dictatorship

How fast are the ships though?

Fast enough that even at a quite a few hundred thousand Jump 4's the crews of A Invasion Fleet made up entirely of The Longest Lived of The 4 Major Races in 1 of their lifetime could get their and still have enough time, if they started within days of arriving, to conquer it and have time to increase their numbers enough to have a good chance of keeping control long enough for a force large enough to guaranteed control of known space to arrive

What movies and books are you getting these ideas from?

To be honest its drawn from too many sources, not just those, for me to ever have the time to do the full list in a way that it deserves. But a randomly picked selection of most of my faves are The 4 major races that are based are The Enterrans from The early 2,000's TV Show Shinzo, A Shape-Shifting Version of The Lugovallian Empire from Infinite Space, The Tau from Warhammer 40K and A 4th race of my own creation that combines several of the best AND worst part of my favorite 1 favourite good and 1 favourite evil race from my 3 favourite fantasy RPG's, with recurring villains and/or historical and/or 1-off major villains based on Amacha One Eye from The Fabled Lands, A Lawful-Evil Mixed Race Q from Star Trex, Star Wars Tarken, Xizor and Thawn, Flesh and not machine versions of Doctor Who's Cybermen and Daleks, misguided and not evil versions of Voltrons Zarkan and Gulra and Cinnabar from Dave Morris Down Among The Deadmen, with races based on Redwalls Mice and Moles that are so pacifist by nature that as long as they get decent food, drink, accommodation and treatment don't mind living their whole lives as slaves, A Race based on Star Wars Fallen that where once The Weakest of The 4 Major Races and A Race based on that of The race of The Bird Life Power Ranger from Dino Thunder who are the strongest of the lesser races and are nearing the end of a millennium long plan to replace The Enterrans as The weakest of The Major Races

The main (and there are others...) problem with this uber-empire of yours is that it's just too uber.

Any consideration of its activities in Charted space is a bit like pondering how the village of South Hylton would deal with the entire US Navy sailing up the river Wear and mooring outside my Dad's house.

Your empire is so vastly overpowered that any consideration of what anyone else might do is just meaningless.

If you put as much effort into detailing the bugs and nuisances plaguing the crew of a beat-up old free trader, you'd have a much more interesting game to play.

Just pick one. Then borrow a tiny piece from it. Then role-play a 4-hour game session with just three city blocks of world area available. Then come back here.
