Monster Island, lost in the mists?

Deleriad

Mongoose
I presume it's a mistake but Monster Island appears to have been swallowed up by ancient sorcery as it's no longer listed as a forthcoming product. In fact the only listed forthcoming RQ product appears to be RQ Adventures (May).

I also was disappointed by the dearth of new RQ stuff on the upcoming list. I went looking for Blood Magic, which was not there, and was struck by how thin the product development pipeline appears.

Come on Mongoose, give us more RQ! (Or we might have to go raiding, kidnap Lawrence Whitaker, and sell him into rule-writing slavery).

Well, we will just need to order everything they publish as soon as it gets out. Show them that we want their stuff!

Since we all know MI and BM are imminent - either there's been some sort of strangeness affecting the website update - or there's decisoon making going on about staggered release dates. FWIW Age of Treason is done but (tentatively) scheduled for late summer/early autumn due to press of other stuff coming out before then...

They did so many products for their MRQI cant they not just turn these into MRQII???? I would love that :D

/K

Actually, if they're willing to print them - I'd be willing to convert books very cheaply. As long as I get recognition for it, the references for later are worth the time I think.

But I suspect that it's the printing of the books that drains the budget, not the writer's wages.

If it's done, it should sent out the printers now so we can buy it now.

Well, I've been doing my part (even a collector copy of the Abiding Book, even though I don't run Glorantha).

I hope Moongose reads this, it's a great deal :)

The Abiding Book and the Empire Book is the only two I miss so far....

What's Blood Magic? Hadn't heard of that one.

Me neither. But I like the name. I like books involving blood, and magic. :D

Good day gentlefolk

First off, my sincerest apologies for my prolonged leave of absence, I had some serious issues which needed sorting out and they tied me up somewhat.

Secondly please forgive the delay in announcing the winners of the Monster Island competition. There was doubt over the future of the book so it would have been unfair to perk up the winner's delight only to see the book vanish into the aether.

Now that Monster Island is back on track, I have no further excuse for postponing who won. As you can imagine it was a very, very difficult decision and I eventually decided to include the top three rather than a single monster from all the great entries. Even then I had problems deciding and actually asked my daughter (who has an odd love of sharks, snakes and monsters in general) to choose between the tie-breakers.

So without further ado, and in no particular order, the winners were...

Deleriad with his S&S classic, the Giant Bat-Winged Ape
Antalon with the gruesome Dead Hanger Tree
ThatGuy with the spiritually enslaving Ghost Orchid

These have been included in the manuscript (with a few minor tweaks for compatability) and with luck will be rushed into production in the very near future. My thanks to everyone who participated.

However, you shouldn't cease your creativity there. I seriously suggest that all of you continue to submit monsters, so that you build an unofficial 'RQ2 Monster Compendium' here on the forum. If there is interest I could ask for it to be stickied so that the beasts would be available for anyone visiting this board to use. Maybe if enough collected creations accumulate Matt might even consider a third Monster book compiled from your creativity.

Matt says Blood Magic is currently in editorial/layout. However, I am unsure when it will be actually released.

That... would be awesomeness indeed!

Yeah, that sticky would be pretty awesome, I still have a lot of monsters from old myths that I would like to convert.
