So over in the "Kill team" thread, Matt's mentioned the inclusion of US Army and Russian army forces alongside the USMC, British Army, MEA and PLA forces we've already seen, so what are people's wish lists of units to be included?

A few for me:

General:

Infantry support sections (Small support units with Anti-Tank guns/missiles, .50 cals, mortars and the like), Zodiacs or similar light amphibious assault craft (for special forces assaults - maybe limited by scenario?)

British Army:

Sea Kings, Chinooks, Tornadoes, Harriers, Saxons, Saracens, Land Rovers, SAM batteries!

US in general:
Apaches, Bradleys, a whole mess of Humm-Vee Variants, Black Hawks, F-22s, F-15s, F-16s, Chinooks, Harriers...

PLA:
Dunno really - I don't know that much about them. With access to a full range of gear they can be more competitive, but maybe a general point-lowering or access to some cheaper tech.

MEA:
Access to more soviet gear - old MiGs, Hinds, Cold war-era tanks and the like.

Russian Army:
I feel like a kid in a china shop here, if there's stats for a nice big range of stuff from the cold war upwards I'll be happy - but the Hind has to be in there!

there's a horrible part of me that wants to play by Brits as 1 Anglicans after watching Ross Kemp in Afghanistan - to the point of considering converting a spare command section to carry camera gear and have blue helmets...

SAS = Super Army Soldier :-)

Love to have seem him grab a sa80, and take on the bad guys in the show..!!!

Did you see the bit where he tested out on the SA80 on a firing range? He passed, but with the lowest score of the group, and when they announced the scores, after his name the announcer said "SAS my arse"...

Ah, OK. That explains the lack of skill in shooting, doesn't it? :)

Although there are quite a lot of British series aired here in Finland, too the name has went under my radar. Thanks for the explanation!

He was also the star of a rather trashy series about the SAS after his high-profile defection from the BBC to ITV.

And whoops on the name, I'll have to see if I can change that...

So there is this thin connection with SAS :)

Do you remember what was the name of the series? I have only seen SAS - Are you tough enough and SAS - Survival techniques but they all seemed more like reality TV series than soap opera...

>>>Infantry support sections (Small support units with Anti-Tank guns/missiles, .50 cals, mortars and the like), Zodiacs or similar light amphibious assault craft (for special forces assaults - maybe limited by scenario?)

Already in.

>>>Sea Kings, Chinooks, Tornadoes, Harriers, Saxons, Saracens, Land Rovers, SAM batteries!

Land Rovers, Chinooks, Saxons, etc already in. Haven't looked at Tornadoes and Sea Kings yet, but they are probably inevitable, one way or another (if we make this game Open Content, people can create their own units galore!).

>>>Apaches, Bradleys, a whole mess of Humm-Vee Variants, Black Hawks, F-22s, F-15s, F-16s, Chinooks, Harriers...

Apache in, Humvee in, Chinook. Black Hawks will certainly go in, will be looking at the others. A great deal depends on what models I personally have (one perk of being the designer :)), so the F-16 is likely. Though, by that rationale, so is the SR-71. . .

>>>PLA:
Dunno really - I don't know that much about them. With access to a full range of gear they can be more competitive, but maybe a general point-lowering or access to some cheaper tech.

Don't assume they are all low-tech. . .

>>>MEA:

Well, some of it. With the Russians entering the game, we don't want too much duplication. More interested in 'home-grown' things, like the Zulfiqar (and Mirsad!).

>>>Russian Army:
I feel like a kid in a china shop here, if there's stats for a nice big range of stuff from the cold war upwards I'll be happy - but the Hind has to be in there!

I know what you mean - there is some tasty kit there :) Black Eagle will likely not appear, the T-95 is already in.

Give the F16 to the MEA. They are inheritting a lot of surplus anyway.

SR-71 - one of my favorite planes, but unfortunately not likely to see service again. If the OGL works out I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Cold War" variant of the game work it's way into the mix.

Awesome :D

(Though in the PLA's case, I was suggesting maybe giving them a low tech cheap option to go alongside the higher-tech stuff, rather than assuming they're coming from a low-tech base)

I can see why you'd want to do that, and especially with there bieng an understandable degree of crossover between the US army and Marines, though I'd like to see some small selection of airpower for the MEA, and old Soviet gear is the most likely thing for them to field (alongside Iranian and Saudi-bought US gear of course)

>>>Russian Army:

I will quite possibly explode if the BTzV1 is in there in some capacity - that's the most brilliantly insane IFV ever!

Oh hell, I'm now considering doing a cold war mod for the game...

MEA actually has alot of american kit if you go by whats happening out here. the iraqis have loads of humvees for starters.

wouldnt really want to see sea kings, they more a search and rescue or anti-sub warfare. better to have pumas and merlins for troop transports. also make sure to get mastifs in for the brits.

Asdiscussed here before the MEA would also have M1 Abrams :)

...except for the HC4 "Junglies" which are troop carriers (another one that the MEA could also field!)
