Mongoose
I have played GW games for years. After some unpleasantness from the company I decided to sell my armies and give SST a whirl. I started to do some prefitting for my first Arachnid warrior and was amazed to discover that the little guy was almost totally snap together! He would even stand (although on shaky legs) in a decent pose.

THATS AWESOME!

I'm still going to glue them together of course.

The more I get into Mongoose games the better I like them. Its a pitty there going be pre-painted mini's eventually.

A lot of people agree with the prepaint thing, but you can always go over them if you like, and there is a fairly decent line of metal and plastic minis out there. Welcome to the game and boards.

*shrug* So what? I won't be leaving the original paint work for my models when they get released. I enjoy painting far too much.

If they weren't pre-painted they would be only use for those who likes to paint.

Now they also cover the side of market that DOESN'T want to paint. Ie more customers attracted=more players to play with.

All of the old models still exist and are fully supported, with an excellent parts ordering system.

Okay, new models are pre-painted, but there is a complete line of Arachnids and MI (and nearly complete run of skinnies) which are already out!

Just remember to use superglue and not plastic glue. The plastic that Mongoose uses is too tough to be melted by most plastic glues.

I disagree somewhat. Super glue generally has very poor shear strength and can also require making a rough surface on smooth plastics for a better grip. I use Plastruct Plastic Weld which is a liquid solvent for ABS and similar plastics. That way the opposing pieces are fused together and a break is usually the plastic piece and not at the weld point. I routinely throw upwards of 20 Arachnid Warriors at a time into plastic shoe boxes like the kids' barrels of monkeys and haven't had a break under those conditions yet. Plastic to plastic and I always use a solvent. I use superglue, in my case Zap Gap, for metal to metal and metal to plastic.

Prepaints alright if it doesnt add loads to the price, or if you can't / can't be bothered to paint. I've bought the odd D&D miniature in bulk (If you can get 26 figs for $7 at todays exchange rate they look alot more attractive :D) without feeling too dirty before lol.

But if they're costing about £18 odd for six figures, don't have particularly nice sculpts, have googly eyes, wonky beards etc painted ontop AND you enjoy painting you're paying a premium for the privlidge of painting over a sloppy paint job, which isn't a great feeling... :?

Thats why Im somewhat shocked that anyone could say anything either for or against without actually seeing them.
If they put out some semi decent looking warrior bugs, at an acceptable price in a useful quantity, then they deserve to sell well.
If however they put them in a box of 7 for £25, made from bendy cheap plastic, sprayed black and drybrushed with the feet dipped in red paint they don't.
Simple as I always thought...

Oh yeah, welcome to the great to the great game :D
