Miniatures

Greetings all.

Does anyone know of any company that offers minis that would work well as Picts?

Thanks in advance,

Thrack

I would try

Specifically:

I'd think that Rakham's Barbarians of Keltois figs might work as well. They certainly seem to fit right in with the Hyborian setting at least.

I've been searching everywhere I know to look for a figure to represent Taurus. Main problem is that most figs are sculpted to look healthy and Taurus is described as fat. Any suggestions? I don't really want to have to sculpt on a belly as my sculpting skills are rather poor.

Thanks,
Chuck

I think you'd be better off looking for Woodlands Indians to use as Picts and save the African tibesmen for kushites and bamulahs, etc.

Agreed, But try to find 25 or 28mm American Indian figures...

edit: ok I found them...Gamesfoundry has Indians, 90% have guns but they do have them.

Didn't quite make it clear - North American woodland Indians (like from Last of the Mohicans). Quick snip and you can soon replace flintlocks with hatchets.

Foundry's indians are generally wearing clothes traded from the settlers, and so don't look very savage.

I've been through pretty much the entire foundry catalogue, and think that some of the Jungle warriors are the closest you will get from foundry, since what shade you paint them is up to you.

Da7/1 or DA 7/7, I should think, especially with the square wodden shields instead of the animal skin ones.

Worth checking out Redoubt Miniatures...

As luck would have it...The USA distrubuter is only 40 miles from my home.

Thank you for the tip.

As a word of warning, I've always found Redoubt a bit hit and miss. Some stuff is good, but like Dixon Miniatures, other stuff is not much cop. They do a whole variety of figures though, including dugout canoes, which i think are particularly neat.

Old Glory's "Vlad the Impaler" line is generally pretty good for Conan. I like the "Bohemian Town Militia" as particularly god for Hyborian footmen and guards.
