Miniatures and Supplements

As far as I know, there is currently no specific Traveller
line of miniatures, most probably because the relevant
license is in limbo. However, it is not difficult to find va-
rious miniatures suitable for use with Traveller. Other
posters can certainly give you some informations (I do
not use minis with Traveller).

RAFM do a range of 15mm figures that you may find useful: http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=RAF&Category_Code=GRAV

Khurasan do some nice 15mm cat-like aliens:

And Critical Mass do some excellent 15mm dog-like aliens (well, jackal-like really!):

Eureka have just started releasing a range of 15mm Zho-types and GZG have some 15mm Imperial Marine types: http://shop.groundzerogames.net/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=762

Other than that, it's just a matter of finding what ranges you like, lol!

The traditional scale for Traveller is 15mm. There is today a HUGE variety of minis at that scale, many of which would work REALLY well with Traveller.

First is 15mm.co.uk. It has a range called "Laserburn" which definitely works well with Traveller (including Marines), as well as the newer and more deatiled HOF range with things such as the best 15mm Grey aliens in existance (IMHO) as well as very cool post-apocalyptic figures.

Second there is Rebel Minis, with a lot of modern (read: TL7-8) infantry, as well as mid-tech-futuristic (read, TL9-12) infantry and vehicles, from tanks to walkers to grav-tanks and dropships.

Last but NOT least there is Ground Zero Games, with a HUGE selection of near-future (circa TL9-12) figures and vehicles.

I don't know of anyone producing Traveller minis in 25/28 at the moment, but they have been done in the past, and you can usually find them on ebay.

Pics of Grenadier's Traveller minis can be found here.

As mentioned, traditional Traveller scale was 15mm, and RAFM currently makes the old Citadel Traveller minis. They look great, but are a tiny bit smaller than most of today's 15s.

Khurasan Minis also makes some good 15s. I'm going to use their Federal Army troopers as Zho if I ever get the chance.

Excuse my interruption but would any of the star wars minatures work?

Well humans aside I was wondering given the plethora of aliens in the star wars universe would any serve well as representations of the other traveller races for example I recall one of the races resembled Vargr slightly although this is purely through memory and not because of having one right in front of me!

The only Star Wars miniatures I am aware of are the 34 mm
miniatures produced by Wizards of the Coast. At least those
I do remember would not fit well into a Traveller setting, and
they were rather expensive (compared to 15 mm or 25 mm),
too.

Sure they could work, but if you want to maintain the Traveller flavor you'd have to weed out a bunch of the obviously SW figures. Unless, of course, you want a Traveller Universe that mirrors aspects of SW, in which case you are good to go.

Fwiw, I just finished painting 53 15mm minis (for Ambush Alley's game Tomorrow's War) and it only took me a couple days from start to finish. That's why I like 15s. That, and the price. And the fact that 15mm vehicles are affordable. And... and... :D

Not to mention the fact that the modern 15mm sculpts have a huge amount of detail on them - when I first saw the piccies for the Khurasan/Rebel/Critical Mass figures I thought they had to be 20 or 28mm! Having bought the figures from these manufacturers I'm still amazed at the level of detail on them!

GZG does have a number of 25mm figures that suit Traveller fairly well. Look under the Star Grunt line.

Then off to em4, as they are the current owners of the Spacelords line.

That said, you'll have options in "28mm" (often closer to 32mm tall) as well. Parts of Reaper's Chronoscape line, Corvus Belli's Infinity, Aberrant's Rezolution, and others including Mercs, Star Mogul, and select parts of Heresy's line, Dark Age, and even 40k.

I still prefer 15mm, though. A Scout ship is *only* two feet long in 15mm, and in a game where rifle ranges are not neutered for miniatures play, more board real estate is a good thing. Vehicles are practical at this scale, not merely "possible but expensive".

GZG, RAFM, 15mm.co.uk and Khurasan have already been mentioned, but you will also want to look at Combat Wombat, Brigade Models, and Stan Johansen. There are also useful scale jumpers sold as 28mm, such as the various drones for Infinity and the Tau drones from 40k.

You can also get use out of some historical lines. The Flames of War line tends toward vertical exaggeration, for example, making the German 8-rad armored cars and the Russian tracked truck quite appropriate.

Once you get an eye for the scale, even toy stores are not safe...

These days, if I were to go "big", I'd buy my minis from both Infinity and Antenociti's Workshop.

Sure, they aren't exactly styled in the traditional Traveller fashion, but that's okay because these minis look so damned cool.

Look at:

Here are three of his figs that I painted.

They are big, but fit with my 25mm (ish) Copplestanone and Hasslefree Miniatures.
