Mini size

Mongoose
I am sure this has been asked before but I am new here so I thought I would ask......

What is the size of the Mongoose minis compared to the old B5 wars minis? I had a large collection a couple of years ago but unfortunately I have lost most of my fleets. :x I still have a large portion of my League and EF fleets but every thing else is gone. I have been really eyeing that Narn box set so any help would be appreciated.

For capitol ships: exactly the same. In fact, they're the same models: Mongoose bought the molds from AoG.

The smaller Fleet Action fighters are used by default.

Thanks for the quick response! :D That is the best news I have heard all day! I was hoping that they were close in scales so that they could be displayed together. And the stands from Mongoose look VASTLY superior than the old AoG stands. I have a old Hyperion and Omega to finish up before I order the Narn set. Cant wait to get my hands on some G'Quans (sp?). 8)

They may look superior, but almost everyone agrees they're a right royal pain in the neck to attach - most of the Mongoose minis still have holes suitable for the old AoG bases, and even they aren't well formed, so they all need drilling out!

And personally I cannot fathom the logic of using round bases in a system with 4 firing arcs - square bases would have been vastly more useful.

They ARE the old AoG Minis (mostly, except some of the newer ones which are the same scale). As for the bases, until recently I would have hugely disagreed as frankly the AoG METAL bases were way, WAY better, but now mongose do metal ones too.... I still use the old ones just so my fleet all matches but thats a minor issue, base size doesnt really affect the game much and there is no 'official' base size anyway, with all measurments being from stem to stem :D

I still have some of the old bases around if I need them. The biggest problem I had was ships like the Sharlin (sp?), Octroutron (sp?) and Vorchan falling over due to the small base size of the stands. These bases look larger or is it my old eyes playing tricks on me? :?

They are indeed MUCH larger, the balance problem I did used to have occasionally but found that if you drill your own holes and move where the base is mounted its ALOT better ;) (I like the small bases as it means I can still play B5Wars with them too ;))

Some of them are different. The Sharlin for example, I have 2 of the old B5 Wars ones and the ones from the Mongoose fleet box and the old ones are just a bit bigger and the guns on the front are different, personally I prefer the way the old guns go on, but I have decided to make the two older ones special ships like the Black Star or such.

AoG remoulded quite a few of their own ships (most notably the Omega), so there were some differences there. I'm not saying Mongoose haven't made any changes, but it's another possibility.

I think its probably AoG that redid it, in fact I know for a FACT that the sharlin was one they redid. All my Sharlins I got pre-ACTA (but at the end of B5Wars active life) and Ive seen other peoples Mongoose Minbari and the two are Identical ;)
