I like them, but I think that if you field one, you should probably also take the tortha ships and maybe a tigara as you are now planning to fight in close.
In my 5 point war list, I take 4 tortha, 2 tigara and 2 troligan for 2 of my war points. That should be plenty to scare my opponent and keep them from getting too close while my sharlin, neshetan and shivanti ships are using all those double and triple damage beam weapons.
