Metal Bases - Dissapointed

Locutus9956

Mongoose
Well I got some bluestars and they came with metal flight bases.

Bases I should emphasise. The stems were still plastic and frankly I dont see the point there, its the stems that always snap not the base!

Still the bluestars are nice :D

Aye, I noticed that, my Kabrokta which is a heavy ship came with all plastic.
I can accept plastic stands on small ships. . . just, but big ships need metal!

Now I recently got some Narn ships that had metal stems and plastic bases.

I really do think the metal bases are essential for big ships. Although I have bought some Ninja magic connectors, but I've yet to try them out.

did you get the ninja connectors from usa or here in uk?
i use small barrel clasps(for jewelry) but they are a pain sometimes to get in a small model

Those are awesomely cool - especially the tilting ones!

At least you got your bluestars and kabrokta, I still waiting for mine to come through the post (pre-ordered 3rd may) :(

I'd chase them up. they should have been sent weeks ago

aye I had to wait a while for mine but theyre definitely shipping, mongoose are a bit erratic when it comes to mail orders but theyre pretty good if you poke them a bit.

Usually. (iks nay on the ahk-day othership-may ;))

Better to buy from FLGS than Mongoose direct, I got mine delivered in a couple of days from ID Gaming with no hassles or poking required

I have. I'm happy with them and will get more, but I only started getting miniatures from about feb this year so my experince is limited.

They are designed for the AoG type stems so do not naturally sit to well on the mongoose ones. The first one i tried kept lolloping over whilst the glue set (like it was drunk) so I held it in place to set. I then tried a thin piece of flash to wedge it in, after a bit of trial and error I got it to work without the flash sticking out - you need less than you think. pic below is one on my unpainted T'Loth (the first ship I've built)

I got them from rattlehead too, they were freindly and charged me airmail at cost

Edit: sorry about the pic being so large

I'm also a convert to the NM converters from RHG for my ACtA from MGP :D

They're also on my SST WASP MI - makes it a lot easier to transport.

Cheers
Mark
