EDIT: I just looked back at the Mongoose website and it lists Mercenary, High Guard, and Beltstrike for August. Let's all cross our fingers.

Mercenary is imminent :)
Imminent. I just love how you tease us silly folks.

I am really looking forward to this one.

So, should this much anticipated book crawl up here during this month or am I to wait for next month?

I don't have Spinward Marches but here in Finland (when I was in service) there was a guerrilla company that trained soldier for recon and behind the lines action...

I want to ask if guerilla is a more polite term for terrorist but that just opens a big can of stink.

Remember the old adage: "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"?

Technically an insurgent is one who uprises against a lawful authority, but a guerilla is someone who uprises against an occupying force.

Would there be an SRD for Mercenary, and if so when could we expect it to be ready? I'm particularly interested in using the skill for projectile weapons (a Specialty of Athletics IIRC).

Imagine something that fires thin coins at you...
I did (killer frisbees) but this does not work for bullets (rotten ballistics) and it just seems, well, a bit silly.

"One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"?
Yup. Lots and lots of scenarios there and oh the moral questions that my players will just ignore.

P22. Guerilla
Previous service: 2 terms in any military careers?
I am very doubtful about this - and almost cynical enough to suggest that any prior military experience is a disadvantage to enlisting. Indeed ANY experience should be a disadvantage to reflect the youth of most guerilla fighters.
I just had to say that this jumped out at me too. As a student of history, I have to hope that "2 terms in any military career" isn't a requirement to be a guerilla, as the truth of the situation is quite the opposite with few guerillas having prior military experience.

Oh well, if it is a requirement then I'll just have to file it with the "deadlier than russian roulette" low berths as something that's different IMTU.

Its not a requirement. It is a "if you have that experience you can automatically enter this career" feature. You can still roll to enter the career just like every other career.

Thank you for the clarification, my mind is eased :D

Does it make that clear in the book? It is not clear in the preview and that is all I have at the moment. :(

Thanks

Daniel
