Mega City 1 Boards

What is the play size of a typical Mega City One board? In my case the smaller the better, but I could never get a good game of necromundia done on less than 4'x4'.

(Im hearing 24"x24"? I see 15" deployment zones in the Undercity expansion. What is a correct size board?)

What is the standard hight of a Mega City One board? Is it like other games in the genre where the more levels the better? Or do firefights benifit from having a more 2d effect.

Lastly does anyone have a link to a board actualy made to look like Mega City One?

Thanks

I don't know what the 'official' size is, as the rulebooks are not clear on this, and may of the examples contradict the diagrams.

I haven't played many games, but I would think you could play perfectly well on 24" x 24", particularly with starting gangs with a max weapon range of 10". As you get longer ranged weapons, you might need bigger boards to take advantage of them.

My last two games were played on quite large layouts, but the actual action was confined to a comparatively small area, approx 28" x 35".

Hope this helps!

I'm still getting bits of MC-1 specific done - derelict mo-pads (made from a Power Rangers Supertrain), daft little MC-1 style standalones like an automated drive-in tattoo parlour (to be adapted from Hot Wheels garage sets), City Bottom DP camps, 'moving' pedways that can criss-cross any terrain, etc.

The main thing is how hard it is to represent the bulging forms of the blocks themselves - massive internal parks and plazas are do-able, but the external blocks are huge. I've a plan to make the curved side of a block that can be placed along a table edge, with some access to windows and floors. It'll be a big job - and I have trouble enough finishing the little ones.

For the moment we're playing on fairly generic sci-fi industrial stuff, bits or WorldWorks and Zuzzy and Armorcast and Ainsty.. there aren't many pics on our site, but here's one of a chunk of derelict megway, the back end of a mo-pad and a busted construction robot: http://neiledmond.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1177606648

Here are a couple of other sites that might help:

But the comic is the best guide.
