medkits

I think the description for medkits need to be clearer. It seems, after playing, that the rules want me to have my medic character near other characters, using special actions. Then on the enemy turn he can attempt to move to them and heal if they get downed.
Is there no way to use a medkit on one's own turn?
 
That might be a better way of doing it - I was trying to avoid having models lying on their backs throughout a turn, but you just end up having to remember what your medics are doing anyway.

Anyone else agree?
