MEA Culpa

I just love catchy topic names, don't you?

Hmm, sounds like a good name for a terrain article in S&P, eh?

Thus, I can call any larger Middle-Eastern structure I may make in the future "MEA maxima culpa", right?

Anyway, dry wit aside, here is one of my new efforts at constructing an MEA structure. The base material is foam-core with what I call "fiddly bits" added for trim.

And again, you deliver ; )

Even without asking.

Splendid job.

On a side note, I started constructing a hotel for BFEvo, though I actually am stuck with the 4 walls glued together and the windows and doors cut out.
Stuck, because other more urgent matters happened.

But I am wandering off,

nice work B

none too shabby at all, what did you use to texture the walls?

Why wall texture, of course!

Really though, I used orange peel wall texture in a spray can. It's one of my secret methods (oops, it was a secret method). :D

Here is a bit of help for those that might be curious at seeing one of the structures in progress of assembly.

As you can see, I am using plasti-card for some of the trim and drink stir sticks for other trim work. While the first steps were made from wood, on this work I used plastic styrene sheeting (plasti-card).

I am also experimenting on various methods of support of the removable roof section. On some of the earlier structures I added roof panel support in the corner areas but for this one I have decided to use the window frames as extended "fingers" in order to provide support. While it appears "wrong" to have the roof panel so close to the window frame tops, because of the thickness of the styro board it doesn't show up when viewed externally. Also, it does help to have the parapit height extend above the window tops.

I'll probably make up a door out of stir sticks for this structure, but I don't necessarily do that for every structure.

Here are additional pics. I now have five ME (Middle-Eastern) structures which will form the town center. I'll be doing the next batch with more than bullet holes in the walls.

My fifth structure was made to have a water well section that could be removed. The ladder hides in the staircase when the well section is used. I've improved my town mosque with a surrounding walkway with plants and repainted walls from Pegasus (used to be grey).
