So I´ve expanded my reign from the Dilgars to the Centauri, and I have built up a fleet I wanted(and afforded). I got a good deal of a reinforcement box I found, and bought a couple of other ships, my fleet is as following:

2 Dargan
1 Balvarian
3 Darkners
2 Maximus
2 Kutai
3 flights of Rutarians
3 flights of Razik
4 flights of Sentrin

This is 4 point battle, not a good size but enough to have some variety in raid lvl battles. Can I win EA(any age) and Vree with this

:)

I wanted to buy a 5 battle fleet comprising 2 dargan, 1 liati, 1 Balvarin, tthen a horde of Demos, and maybe some darkner. Alas, my LGS only had the balvarin and demos left in stock, so i didn't bother

need primus's and loads of vorchan/demos  and mayby a outurian if are gonna go that high. I'd grab a good few sulust escorts to they mean 24 battle laser helps.

its usable but not really my choice of ships

If you can get hold of - A Primus, a Liati, (maybe a nice resin one :) ) some Vorchans and maybe a Altarian and a A Sullust or two...........

it would help a lot :D

Yes. Why not?

A pair of Dargans gives you a nice core - a little unusual compared to the 'normal' Centauri fleet centred on battlecruisers & battleships, but very manouvrable and with impressive forward firepower.

Stealth 4+ isn't that great. It's pretty good at holding off long ranged fire (5+) but not much cop up-close-and-personal, where you're likely to be taking fire from multiple opponents (2+/3+). Trust it to reduce the fire you take from 'artillery' ships like missile cruisers and torpedo saucers, but treat anything else it stops as as a bonus.

Take them with the Darkners as well you can field a big, manouvrable battle laser pack, and still have decent fighter support because Rutarians can do pretty much anything you ask of them. This is a nice, agile force that does well against later-era EA; bypassing heavy armour and interceptors with the lasers and dodging boresighted weapons.

Take them with the Balvarin you've got a bit of a mismatch; the carrier is slower and yet is the ship that doesn't want to be forced to fight. Its prow-on guns aren't bad, and it will pretty much give you fighter control (especially with some Raziks in the fighter complement) unless someone else has brought an Avenger or Stukeeta. This means your Dargans are no longer threatened by enemy assault fighters and you can concentrate on blowing the snot out of vulnerable enemies with the Rutarians. Good for cutting through the Early-era starfury swarms. Keep the carrier somewhere protected from missile fire, though.

Take them with the Maximus and you add a solid defensive block to the pack; a pair of Maximus frigates add interceptors that aren't compromised by close range fighting and can keep pace with the strike cruisers. In addition it has hull 6 and enough flak to protect itself and the Dargan it accompanies. The armament is just matter cannons, no laser, so is best used on already fragile hulls, where its agile trait helps it line up its guns. Probably best for Vree.

I have been thinking of adding 4 Sulusts, or 2 and 2 Altarians, but the Altarians are sold out everywhere.

I will not touch Vorchans, as they do not need skill to win

not true. Whilst the 4 demos gave me a bit of a kicking, it was the Centurion that was finishing ships off left right and centre! but the demos is mildly overpowered, the Vorchan is fine.

Bah, vorchans are fast and stuff but there fragile with small hull and crew points. I have 12 for god sake and I yet to even use them all at once

thy. Will have to test that =)

you people think I´m insane not touching the Vorchans right

Yes mate. Totally barking. Get some Vorchans, at least a battle point's worth of them. They are your premier strike ship. If you're worried about them needing "no skill" you've obviously never seen the mess they end up in if they're used poorly...

I would say that you have the makings of a good fleet there. In the earth centauri war, I used 2 liati, 2 dargan, 2 demos and 2 morgrath in a 5 point battle capped at 8 ships, and I used them to devasating effect against all my opponents bar gaim and minbari. ESPECIALLY devasating against all EA ages.

A decent mix of lasers, matter cannons, ion cannons is best. As most centauri ships come with ion cannons, and normally twin-linked, these are good for battering down interceptors, and picking on more fragile ships.

The matter cannons, and plasma accelerators come as a nasty shock, especially once interceptors are down, and are even worse when you get CAF.

The lasers, in my opinion are not to be RELIED upon to do the damage, they are there to provide support with criticals. This is a little odd, as they seem to billed as the primary weapon, but since MGP nerfed them they simply can't deal out the damage they used to.

This is where the liati and the morgrath come in, you want to destroy a warlock in one salvo? Thats what 2 liati supported by 2 morgrath did; double damage beam weapons are tasty.

If I were you I'd add at least 1 liati to that fleet, probably a couple of morgrath, and definetly have at least 2 vorchan just to support your liati in an assault.

Thats my two penneth - and I am the Centauri Admiral.

Well I might actually get a Liati and a few Sulusts. I like the Liati couse it is definitely not an easy ship to play with, and the Sulusts just "look" to much like having 24`inc anti-ship torpedoes

Gonno go with what I want to play, and this is not my main fleet, the Dilgar are.
