There is one in science fiction, ever read Footfall?Rick said:Brilliant. Combine that with the Transhuman thread - we need a race of uplifted elephants. Ever read SchlockMercenary?Reynard said:We need an elephantoid alien race for a natural matriarchy.
Would be an exceptionally good idea, not sure if Mongoose would ever do it, but I think it should be done.

But you know what, I think Amazon Warrior women look better than fat Elephant People!Reynard said:Base them on the monarchy similar to Babar except there's a queen and she favors surrounding her court with females. The Loxodonta Sapiens are a transplanted uplifted species of the ancients and also host a human population on their world but won their right of dominance there long ago and there's been peaceful coexistence. Yeah, I'm having fun. If there can be cats, dogs dolphins and newts, let there be elephants!
How about a 6-foot tall rabbit with hands and white gloves named Bugs?Rick said:Oh yes - I favour an upright, bipedal stance for Loxodonta Sapiens, with grasping hands, as it seems to fit in with how the vargr have changed, and somewhere around the 3.5-4.0m height mark. Seem about right?

Oh come on Rick, have you no sense of humor? Must you be offended by everything I say? I think the idea of a walking talking Elephant man is equally humorous as Bugs Bunny, anyway didn't they have those in Star Wars? Sides the topic is Matriarchies, not Elephant people, so it seems like we already got off the subject, a walking talking "wascally wabbit" is just as irrelevant as "Barbar the Elephant". By the way are you talking bout a full size Elephant or would you rather shrink them to fit aboard a human scale spacecraft? Elephants are quite big you know, a spaceship designed to carry them, might mean 100-ton fighters with jump Drives.Rick said:I believe it might be a record for Tom - 2 completely irrelevant, disruptive Troll-posts in 3 posts. Either add something relevant or humorously semi-relevant to the conversation or STFU. Your choice.
tzunder said:Just finishing off Traveller Sword Worlds and the very patriarchal tone made me pause. Does the OTU have any matriarchal societies at all? I really can't think of any that aren't fundamentally patriarchal or non gender based (Hiver come to mind).
Yeah, have whatever weird aliens you want, not that I object. There were skeletal aliens in the original movie Alien that looked sort of like elephants, they were big.Reynard said:Actually Tom, elephants have matriarchal groups and that's why I used them for an example. Making them an alien or uplifted race makes sense for Traveller considering how many others have terran analogies.
