Marc Miller's Traveller (T4)

.

Also, one of the things on the T4 CD from FFE that never made it to print (but was ready to go to print when Imperium Games folded) was Aliens Vol. 1 (NOTE: This is NOT Aliens Archive). Aliens Vol. 1 was the T4 expanded CharGen and background on the Aslan and Vargr (and also the "Graytch", who were less interesting). But there was improvement over the CT Alien Modules in the expanded CharGen in terms of making the procedure better fit the flavor and psychology of the races, and also one or two interesting pieces of new revealed historical background not revealed anywhere else, such as the fact that Kusyu originally had a somewhat different biosphere about 2 million years ago, and then there was an "abrupt" change or cataclysm of some sort, after which the proto-Aslan and related life began to evolve, and they don't seem to be directly related to the prior life or breathe the prior atmospheric mix of gases.

yeah I saw that.... and was sort of disappointed that Aliens Vol. 1 wasn't one of the things Mongoose put up on the website. I've got an FFE order queued up but have been meaning to ask some of the old heads before dropping it, who might have that via the CD to ask if it worth buying just to have for Aliens vol.1 . Did it have anything worth getting (paying for) if one already has the T4 books of interest (got the Milieu O and the two Naval books). Wondering if paying 35 bucks for the CD is worth it if or it was just a rehash of old information or was covered later by Gurps/Mongoose.

Sounds like you gave me an answer. Thanks!!

So is there any chance Mongoose that Aliens vol. 1 will end up for sale seperately? Overlooked or just not possible to do?

I'm pretty sure it's the source for a couple of minor races that haven't been explored elsewhere; most notably, a human minor race from Graytch space that is up on the wiki and listed on Traveller Map (the Hanen). Plus of course expanded material on Graytch themselves, though they did get a fair amount in Alien Archive.

Emperor's Arsenal had some great stuff in it . I think the chapter of additional rules from page 7 is unsurpassed in all published canon for bringing a bit more crunch to combat. For example, the rules on using personal scale weapons against starships (and vice versa) on page 11 are so elegant and yet CT-MT-TNE had floundered about trying to manage such combat. Likewise the rules for torpedoes.

We are seeing if we can get a cover together for it :)

Some of the material in there had never been published or mentioned prior, and I am not aware that it has ever really seen the light of day beyond the FFE CD. I think it does a better job of integrating racial culture into the expanded CharGen prior careers than the CT Aliens modules did. It really deserves to have its own independent existence as a published document rather than just a bonus entry on the T4 CD.

Thanks.

hah... find me an artist who isn't up for a creative challenge (matching T4 late 90's standards to today's). It's why we love artists.... and not just for great conversation or having the really good smoking material at parties!!!

thanks for the FYI... I'll sit and wait for you all as I only wanted this one not the whole bundle.

Any chance of it being scanned properly at some point? Some of Marc's pdf scans have used incorrect settings, the text isn't text, it is an image of text. In addition many of the side boxes are unreadable - I know that there are more modern scans of a lot of this stuff because I own the early release pdfs and a more recent file.

The quick answer is that this is on the cards, and files will be updated for free... but it will take a good while.

Speaking of Aliens Vol I, does anyone know of any decent art for the Graytch? Aliens Archive just has a skeleton and the art for them in Aliens Vol I is not to my taste.
