We'll be making an announcement about this a little later in the week but, for all you Lone Wolf devotees, this book is now in stock! Pre-orders will be going out tomorrow.

I doubt I'll be picking this up, I have to economise somewhere and LW is the least likely of all the RPGs I have to ever get played.

LBH

Got mine today, and I like the info I briefly saw at work today. It's not a thick book (About the same as the other LW books) but in the few entries I looked at on Drakkar (many variants), Giaks, Helghast, Vordak there was some cool information that might not have been introduced in other places.

Just little snippets about the origin and scarcity of the Helghast, the nature of the Dakomyd, etc are worth it already. Plus some roleplaying hints for playing the critters too. Can't wait to inflict a few on the group I'm running a game for :)

Without tooting my own horn, this is /the/ Magnamund monster book to get. If you want variants on Drakkarim, different kinds of Darklord minions and things that are specific to Joe's mind.

Well...I mined that mind extensively in writing this book. Joe was an incredible help in making this and Sommerlund a reality - Vincent was also a great help with many clarifications, edts and fact checks for the Magnamund Bestiary.

There's also a few things that were expanded from Joe's replies, such as the nature of Clockwork Constructs on Magnamund, how they came...and how to make your own.

How many non darkspawn monsters are there? Does the book have that shapechanger beast that YOU fight in Dessi in Voyage of the Moonstone?

EDIT: Oh and does the book contain magnakai level foes?

Many thanks!

There is a range of CS/EP creatures, (some that are probably pitched for combined higher level characters to fight, or for GM level characters( and there was also a non-Helghast shapeshifter if that was the one that attacks you?

The darkspawn and even agarashi monsters are only a section each, there are normal animals, mutants, and human sections too. Even extra-planar creatures.

The Drakkar stuff is more the breakdown of ranks/positions in the Drakkar army with stats, so any teaser would basically be typing out those pages of the book!

Thank you Darren :). That was a great honor and pleasure to work with you on that book. Thanks to Joe we learnt incredibly numerous new things about the monsters of Magnamund, and everybody will be able to discover them now the book is released!!

In fact, the Darkspawn are nearly all present, but their number is dwarfed by the others monsters, including the Agarashi (whose origins are completely different from the Darkspawn), the Mutants created by different dark powers (including Shasarak the Wytch-King of Shadaki, the Cener Druids, the evil Ancients, the Nadziranim, Lord Zahda of Kazan Oud...), the completely magical creatures, the extra-planar creatures, the Undead. One of the great issue of that book is that the monsters and beings of Magnamund are classified following their origins. There are the common creatures, the darkspawn, the Agarashi, the sentient beings, the mutants... Such a work would have been impossible only reading the gamebooks and Joe Dever provided many new data to classify the beasts. For example, the mysterious shapechanger (the bloodthirsty Deathstalker) YOU deal with in Voyage of the Moonstone is described and classified in the Magnamund Bestiary...

A simple answer: YES. For example the Deathstalker you asked is such a beast, as well as many other Agarashi. You want to fight with the terrible minions of Deathlord Ixiataaga, who was even feared by the Darklords? They are present. Good luck!

Would the Drakkarim army organisation in any way be based on the article Dever published in S&P 69?
Indeed it is completely coherent with that already published organisation.

Indeed, it was a great pleasure to have your eye for detail so this book could be something truly worthy of Magnamund.

A true labour of love.
