Magic Across the Multiverse

Are there any basic rules about how magic is translated/used on various planes of the multiverse. In particular how is magic handled when a character from Tragic Europe adventures in the Young Kingdoms and the other way around?

All shall be answered in 'The Elric Companion'...

Excellent, that book has moved to the front of must have books, along with Thirdspace of course.

To keep it on the Multiverse subject does anyone have links to Elric/Hawkmoon RPG sites that might not readily appear on a goodle search, like maybe a Glorantha/RQ site that contains Eternal Champions materials. I would also be interested in seeing what peoples top 3 websites they use/read for the Multiverse.

Thankss

BE interesting to see how cross over works. Been wondering if I brought a mage from one world to another would he be overpowering or be a wimp. For example if I decided that there was a society in Glorantha using Lankmar style Black magic How would that work? Or parts of the Easter island used the Magic out of Slaine?

In the old Chaosium Rogue Mistress, it says somewhere to the effect magic all depended on the Multiverse you were currently in how magic and technological items even, would work. Though I am at work right now so can't look to see what it stated.

I was never comfortable with that. Tech works very nicely in the Young Kingdoms - witness the Lizard Men of Pio's weaponry in the assault on Tanelorn.

There are some planes that seem naturally resistant to magic; even Stormbringer is almost inert in some realms, but I've never bought into the whole 'Its because of the Lords of Law/Chaos' angle as the primary reason. I prefer to think that magic's effectiveness is dictated by the nature of the plane itself, rather than the gods worshipped or prevalent.

(Sound of worm can being levered open...)

Dear All,

There are loads out there - question is, do you read French?

All the best

I like your general preference on the issue Loz. I read the basic rules in Rogue Mistress and thought it was an over simplification geared towards a certain game machanic/balance.

As for french..well I read it at about a 3rd grade lvl which means that reading multiverse materials in french would be a giant head-ache...on the other hand if I had the time it would be a good way of improving my french language skills...ah, time, I wish there were more of it, at least more of the free bits.

Dear All,

OK, here is a good one to start with (I think someone might have posted a reference to it before - but it's still a good site):

Enjoy those irregular verbs!
