LW Online RPG Seeks New Players: A Twist in Time

Sol

Mongoose
EDIT - THIS GAME IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW PLAYERS: AS OF MARCH 16 2007

Hello all,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Sol - avid LW gamer turned GM and I am opening a new game on the LWRPG site. Do you have a copy of the LW Rules? Have you always wanted to try out a 20th level character? What about having the chance to fight alongside Lone Wolf himself? This game has it all - time travel, great heroes and heroines, gods and goddesses, and the chance to save all of Aon from destruction, the Darklords, and Naar himself.

I wanted to invite you to my new game which is now OPEN and is calling for characters as we speak. I'll be looking for 6-8 characters total, and 2 of the spots are already spoken for. Here's a link if you want to see all the details:

http://towerofthesun.com/lwrpol/viewforum.php?f=20

The game involves encounters of epic proportions, time travel, battling against Naar's minions, fighting side-by-side with Lone Wolf himself, and playing the greatest heroes and heroines in the history of Aon!

This game you have to see to believe. There will literally never be another one like it.

Here's the Teaser (see below) but make sure to drop by the RPG board in order to get ALL the details. You will need to PM Alyss to secure your spot (on that board), so make sure to drop by the RPG board and give a shout-out. (you can post as a guest if you don't have an account).

Lone Wolf needs your help! Hope to see you there!

Teaser (Alyss speaking):

"The Kai Lords. These were Sommerlund's finest. These were the vanguard of her armies. Since the time of Sun Eagle, they kept their country safe. And under the protection that they granted, all of the Freelands enjoyed a long golden age.

"This all changed on a fateful dark night. During a destructive assault called the Black Muster, the greatest of the Darklords called Zagarna masterminded the destruction of the Kai Lords. Not a one was spared. Not a one.

"Well, perhaps one. A boy. Not yet a man. He was called Silent Wolf. He avoided the notice of all of Zagarna's forces. Their telepathic scans missed him. Their shapeshifting agents overlooked him. An army of tens of thousands could not find him though Zagarna and even Naar himself had become aware of his existance and would not tolerate it. Ah, well, they did eventually find him. But by that time he had acquired the great weapon called Sommerswerd which had not been seen in a thousand years and used it to single-handedly turn the tide of battle, destroy the greatest of all Darklords, and once again bring peace to all his people. He would do things and achieve things that no human being in the world had ever achieved and he would soar to heights that would one day affect all good beings not only in his home plane called Aon, but also all the creatures of light upon all the planes in all of existance.

"What is that, you say? Are you saying you don't believe me?

"Well, I'll admit it. That's not the whole story. <laughs> Not by a long shot."

It definately looks very very promising and interesting. Would very much like to participate, but I haven't played the actual gamebooks in years (and then not all of them, as I live in germany and not all very available) and don't have that much time at my hands right now. Too sad. But all the best to you chaps! Have loads of fun.

May you have a great time in the magnificent land that is Mangnamund.

Regards, Cut

I think your campaign sounds very intriguing. Unfortunately, I only recently got my Lone Wolf books - jumping in at 20th level seems a little daunting as a newcomer.

I'll kick around some ideas and try to absorb the characters classes a little better. If I think I can pull it off, I'll request a spot in the game.

Best of luck either way!

Azgulor

Very good to hear a bit of a buzz. For new players: all you need in order to play is the LWRPG book (the big one) and the desire to play. No need to be daunted by the L20 character - they DO take longer to create, but you will also have all the help you need since our community is very close-knit and will help you fine-tune your ideas as you go.

Azgulor, if I could entice you, feel free to drop over. This campaign will be especially enjoyable for any who especially loved the original gamebooks.

I went over to Tower of the Sun to send a PM, but my account wasn't working and I had to reregister. Rather than wait for the account activation, I wanted to at least reply here.

Thank you for the offer. I would like to look at giving it a shot. I've read most of the posts that have been created for the game at TotS. I really won't have a chance to work on character concepts until the weekend but I am interested in running some type of spellcaster since the unique styles of magic were one of the major points that drew me to the game.

I was thinking Brotherhood of the Crystal Star but it appears that you already have such a character. I need to review the Mage of Dessi, Herbalish, and Shianti Sorceror (they're my leading choices at the moment). Would such a character be permitted or do you already have enough spellcasters?

Thanks,

Azgulor

Yes, would you allow a Shianti Sorcerer. I'd love to play one and would try to make some time if allowed!!! :)

Hello Azgulor and Cut,

It may take a little while for you to be approved on the RPG site, but don't let that bother you. If you have both signed up, just let me know what usernames you registered with and I will help to expediate the process - you will be posting in no time. (It is customary to sign up with a username that is the same as your character's.)

In any event, yes, we have a Brother of the Crystal Star right now (Sir Bors) but I don't object to a second if that is what you are hoping for. A Mage of Dessi, a Shianti, or an Herbalish are all fine choices as well. If it takes some time to put together your characters, no worries. I am expecting this to take some time for the players, and that's OK. All I ask is that you begin posting on the RPG board (A Twist in Time) when you get your account, and we can go from there.

Welcome aboard, both.

Alyss (Sol)

I tried hard to make the time, but I just can't :(

I'm very sad that I have to let this opportunity go, but real life is getting in the way right now in a way, that I can't ignore.

All the best to you, guys, have a lot of fun. Might want to glipmse at the progress every now and then.

But right now I have to admit: I'm out!

Sorry if oyu waited up on me.

I posted under Azgulor. Still waiting on account activation. I had an active account but it mysteriously was deleted. Sorry if I'm holding things up. I'll try to have something to you ASAP.

Azgulor

Azgulor,

No problem. You aren't holding us up. I'll pass word to the mods that you have registered and see if the process can be speeded up. Once you're in, just post a message there and we will proceed.

Cut,

RL can be a drag! If you have time in the future, you know you will be welcomed. Until then!

Thanks for your understanding and the open door :) Maybe I'll be able to join later!

All the best to the game so far!

Hello Azgulor,

I haven't seen your first post yet - how are you doing on your end? Just wondered if they have activated your account yet - why not try it? Even if you didn't get an email yet, it might be working already - just use the password you used when you signed up and see what happens.

Good day,

At first, I was not much interested in what appeared to be yet-another-erpg. I was to the verge of deleting my bookmark during my latest “spring-cleaning session”.

Imagine this: replaying Lone Wolf (a level 5 adventure at the beginning) with several (gne?!) epic (re-gne?!) characters. I really found it stupid. Come on Alyss (the player), you disappointed me.

Then I read what you should really read to understand the concept: A Twist in Time — Introduction, part 3

And here is the important part, that really makes me enthusiastic on it:

You won’t play Lone Wolf or Lone Wolf-likes. You will play big-timers that will silently make it possible for him to survive the terrible odds of the adventures.

Now, sign me in. Alyss, I’m preparing my character :-)

Ikar,

I am very glad that what you saw was intriguing enough to keep you reading. Players and Characters alike will be put to the test, and the fate of Aon is by no means set. Please be patient as your character is created - it may take a little time, but believe me - you will be well underway before the intrigue begins.

The miracle of Lone Wolf's destiny is about to begin. And you, Magnamund's greatest heroes, will be there to shape it.

Sol,

Sorry for the delay. Wife and kids have all been sick with the flu. Now that they're on the recovery road, I hope to have my character defined in the next day or two. I also received notification on my TotS account, so I'll try and send you a message there tomorrow.

If I'm holding things up, I apologize. If you're ready to go before I'm set, please keep me in mind as an alternate.

Thanks,

Azgulor

Ikar,

Looks like your account is ready at the RPG board. You may want to try logging in again once more. Welcome to the game!

Sol

PS - about 2 slots left - if anyone else is interested, make sure to drop by!

Hello all,

This game is now closed to new players. Azgulor, I haven't seen you on the RPG board yet, but you can still play if you begin your character creation soon. If not, no hard feelings, but if you DID want to play, you will want to come join us within the week.

Cheers,
Sol

Sorry for the long delay. I had a hell of a time the last few weeks, or more accurately, my family did. Either my wife or one of my kids were sick, at times all of the at the same time. This combined with work made it impossible to post and ramp up. I created a couple of characters, but couldn't devote the time to TotS boards to really get rolling. (Is it just me or are they less than user-friendly?)

I appreciate the opportunity and hope the campaign works out great for you and your players. Maybe a game will work out sometime in the future.

Thanks,

Azgulor
