So who saw this and what do you think?
That whole possession and admoedeus thing, I think, would be a good setting for a campaign, religion and sci-fi.

I was slightly disapointed with Lost Tales. After such a long wait felt a bit anti-climatic. Did n't feel quite like old B5. Missed the old sets and background characters.

Seeing Lochley Galen, & Sheridan on screen again after such a long gap was cool. But it was the characters around them that made the series. The likes of Vir, Lennier, Zack, Corwin, Lyta, Bester etc. I know some of the main characters would be impossible (e.g. Franklin & G'Kar) but what about other known faces. Even fringe characters such as Lt. Cmdr. Laurel Takashima would have been cool.

Without any of the sets (which I do understand would have been long destroyed) it did n't feel like B5 station- it could have been anywhere. I would have hoped that some of the classic sets could have been recreated, even if just on green screen.

The scenes in the docking bay for example. Impressively large and I am sure would not have been possible 10 years ago. Yet it bore no resemblance to docking stations that we saw in 5 seasons.

However if it is the start of future B5 episodes and gives them enough money to make more & better epsiodes, then it would have been worth it. More of Galen would be cool and am looking forward to seeing Garibaldi in next installment.

And yes the Asmodeus idea was interesting and has potential for plot hooks.

Cheers

James

I quite enjoyed it and I think some people didnt like it because they thought it would be a movie style thing which it wasnt meant to be; it was, in the end, a kind of episode thing not a movie style thing.

The Asmodeus and demon stuff sounds interesting as does the current developments within the Centauri Royal Court. A bit of a retcon there since it was said before that Cartagia had no heirs but now he does but I supposed they could have hidden the child away in order to prevent an assassination or something like that.

The child could have been a nephew in the cartajia house, or possibly been sired by a concubine, or have been in the womb when Cartajia was killed.

I loved the two epsidoes, did not notice about the sets, and loved it. I was disappointed there was no ship combat, well there was a clip that was nice, but not much, and it boiled down to both characters making a decision. More like a rpg session with no combat and a lot of down time, but a nice re-introduction into the series, like a new beginning. I wish the show would come back for good in some form.

It was cool seeing the documentaries, and good to know more is coming out. I also though seeing Kosh in the opening credits was cool, it would be nice to see more vorlons. Apparently they are gone, but apparently they posed as angels and whatnot, but I certainly believe asmodeus is an actual demon, not a shadow, or the hand, or any first one stuff, my two cents.

Overall, I liked it.

But it didn't quite feel like B5 to me. There wasn't enough in the likes of extras or parts of the station to suit my taste. It was interesting to see what could be done with a small number of sets and a limited cast, but that really left out much of what made B5 so great.

And although JMS has always (to my opinion) treated those with faith very sincerely I've never quite felt that such issues were among his strong points. Believers is one episode I find nearly torturous to watch and Day of the Dead (yes, written by Peter David and not JMS) didn't feel like it was really part of B5 either. Voices left me with the same impression.

But it was still good to visit the B5 Universe again, and hopefully the Writer's Guild will get what it needs from the studios so that we can get more soon.

Logically one would think there would be more. Sales exceeded expectations aparantly quite nicely so demand would be appear to be there. Next one you would expect to get even better with same budget(some groundwork already been done like CGI models etc which can be reused like whole B5 etc) and with bit more budget(since sales were so good aparantly) would get good going.

But then again we have certain gaming company which ignores the fact sales exceeded expectations and general demand of product and chose to kill it instead so I wouldn't be suprised if WB goes that way too :-(

Wish we would hear news of lost tales #2 soon!

I guess that JMS tried to sell WB on the idea to get ahead in the script area (due to the pending possibility of the Writer's strike), but WB didn't see things his way and saw no reason to get any more scripts done before the strike.

Unfortunately, until the studios and writers come together there won't be any new B5 (or much of anything else except reality TV  )...and there may not be any for some time after that as things get sorted out and reprioritized with higher profile projects taking precedence to get them on track again.

I didn't like the possession thing and found it a bit silly really. I liked the second half but the whole thing needed a lot more action...it's clear the special effects today are ready to give B5 justice. I think I would rather see them spend money tidying up the old effects in the series and re-releasing them on DVD (Lucas did that with Star Wars IV, V and VI quite nicely)

Ya but he chaned stuff while he was at it. The old show belongs the way it was. Know way am I willing to accept that greedo shot first, that totally changed han's character.

If I understood that correctly (which wasn't easy!) he changed it to the way he wanted it originally...it's his movie and he retouched it the way he wanted because the studio didn't let him first time round and the effects didn't exist in 1977.

I thought it was totally lame concept. Humans have been in space for how long? Then all of a sudden Asmodeous decides to take a human train into deep space?

Then for some lame reason he cannot unpossess the person unless a Priest excommunicates him.

Yea h I enjoyed the seond ep and did not enjoy the first at all

No one said - "hey did the Vorlons / Shadows leave you behind ?" Get a telepath to check him out - ask the Rangers maybe?

I thought JMS had been at home watching a low budget horror flick when he wrote it ..............

the second was much better - epsecailly with the Glorious Republic being involved.

still dislike Technomages - they go with all the nice gifts the Shadows gave them and are they grateful - no they are not!

Also nicely vague visions - "Yeah honest its Centauri ships up there blowing up the city - can Isee them - er no - lets move on. Also this battle - is it all linked - yes cos I say it its................any context as to how or most imoportantly WHEN it happened - nope it just does.............belive me when I tell you who is to blame. :)

I like Southpark's version of all this :)

I agree with souths park version of this and it is true for them. Nuts to gergoe lucas and whoever said stuff about him making it the movie he wanted be and couldnt due to technology. I solely mentioned the scene with greedo being changed, nothing else, the very idea that it would have been too expesnive to add in one blaster shot to the original is a blatantly stupid and unfounded statement that does not hold up with the argument.

And whatever if you liked the changes they made. Keep agreeing with lucas. That way in 20 years time when he is on remix 408 of star wars you wont know what the hell your watching.

I'm in the south park camp. Once you make a movie and share your work it belong to society, the people and culture. To go back and change it is insulting and selfish, just on your own little behalf.

As for the exorcism and asmodeus thing, if a demon inhabits a persons body it probably cannot leave voluntarily, and you have to reason it out a bit. It is possible that maybe something sealed these away and then unleashed the demons/devils/cookiemonsters recently, or maybe they can only possess certain people. And this episode is by far one of the better recent babylon 5 episodes, in my eyes, better than legend of the rangers, and most of the painful season 5, and crusade. It seems that anything new that gets added to the mythos is wrong or bad because its not the vorlons or shadows.

It was orignal imo, and added something speical to the setting. Besides its canon now, if you dont like it tough. And dont compare it in the same light as the star wars argument cos it aint the same.
