In Pioneer's Preview the Leadership skill roll has been applied as a +1/-1 DM to a single team member task, moving away from Traveller's group combat-focused application. May I offer a friendly amendment?
Let's make Leadership appropriate to the setting as a "Task Chain" style DM that's applied to a group activity. Here's the scenario, the team gets together and decides on a course of action, and one of the Pioneers tried to align the team on the plan and encourage them to do a good job. Roll Leadership and based on the effect have an effect on the key actions for that plan as the Task Chain rules.
I note that Leadership does not have an Escalation mechanic, but I suspect a negative DM for the team is plenty.
