Languages in the Young Kingdoms.

Big Orc

Mongoose
Does anyone know if there is an offical Language(Mabden) in the rules. I have read all the relevant RQ2 rulebooks but can only find one reference, "...and named it Pan Tang ('Place of the Tang Tribe' in the Mabden Language)." RQII Cults of the Young Kingdoms, p42. Does this mean that only Pan Tangian's will know the language, or that the language was just missed for the Elric of Melnibone CRB?

I am aware that I can just insert the skill into my game, but would like to keep it in line with the official rules.

Its an oversight.

However, Mabden isn't even widely spoken in Pan Tang, so only a handful of scholar-sorcerers would even know enough of it to converse. Pan Tangians use the Common Tongue.

The Chaosium material on YK languages had Lesh as the spoken tounge of the folk of the Sighing Desert .
Was this deliberatly omitted from the rules, or do they speak a form of the Common Tongue ?

If I remember rightly, I couldn't find a canonical reference so assumed it was Common. It would make sense too. 'Fortress of the Pearl' sees Elric communicating with the Quatzhaduans and Sighing Desert nomads in Common; no mention, AFAICR, of a separate language. You might argue that the Sighing Desert nomads have a dialect of Mong called Lesh, which would make a degree of sense. Chances are they share a heritage with the Weeping Wasters.
