Hmm, when was this taken?

I'm pretty sure there are a few small changes that may happen before production.

Very nice over all, however.

Can hardly wait to put an Eagle on it. :D

Looks good and very excited....
However is this the finnished item? Because their was comments on the SFB boards about changeing the rendering to remove the grill on top of the secondry hull and plaiceing a small triangle onto the wing vains so that it matches the ADB version, This one also appears to have plasma launchers in the engine pods either that or it is a split between the 2 disruptor mounts.
One last thing..what size base is it mounted on so that i can have some idea of the size

Hmm 4" is a bit big for a D7 :(

It could make it too expensive. :(

3" would be a better size - when you consider that the dreadnoughts will be bigger (if I recall, around 1/4 again, so around 5" at that scale). Mind you, the frigates would be a decent size... :)

I agree. Bigger ships would end up too huge to play with.

Matt did say this wasn't necessarily the final scale.

B5 cruisers are 3-4" so I would have thought the D7 would have been around 3 as well

5-6" is playable - victory and other vessels about this size

Yeah, but you don't want the cruisers as big as the victory, not when you've got dreadnoughts and battleships to fit in.

Here's an idea, though... Ral Partha used to produce (and still might) "museum scale" minis... larger versions of the more famous mechs...

Mongoose could always do the same with just one ship from each race... maybe even produce a load and spray them gold to hand out as prizes for winning ACTA: SF tournaments?

I think that they'd be wonderful to paint at that scale, but not so good for gaming, sadly, or I'd say vote to just leave them... :(

That kind of material would be a nice option for cloaked minis, if wholly "plain" translucent materials were off the table. (But then, even if they weren't, a bit of a tint here and there might not hurt.)

I'd agree that looks to be one of the earlier prototype designs; the most recent revision shown removes the grille extending in front of the deckhouse on the secondary hull, for one.

How big is the current SFB D7?

About 45mm, far too small IMO considering their Constitution class is about the 75mm mark. It should be smaller (~230m vs ~290m), but not by that much. About 60mm is about right (assuming that I've got accurate "real-world" lengths :))

I'm not sure if that's the final production version, the new Connie model is ~95mm I think, so the D6/D7 should be ~75mm. Assuming they don't drop the size of the final models, there's been more than one SFB/FC player expressing concerns about the increased size.
