KILL THEM ALL!!!!!

Not exactly Conan, but...

SPARTACUS!!!!

AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I've been consistently surprised with this show. What could have easily been a shlockly, one note action show that relied on special effects has really turned into a a great drama that happens to have extreme action in it.

Good acting. Great writing. Exceptional story-telling.

That season finale has got to be one of the best season climaxes I've ever seen. I actually stood up, three feet from the screen, for the last half of the show.

We're talking prehistoric goose bumps here.

Both of my thumbs, way up.

Overall its not bad, but in terms of production, story, and "feel" I have to say the HBO series "Rome" still surpasses it.

I do like it but it is not done in classical setting, rather a classics-a-la-comics setting.

Fun, good, but not AWESOME like ROME was.

I'll agree that ROME was fantastic. It was a different animal, though. And, with this finale, it's rapidly becoming equal in my book.

ROME was like the new Battlestar Galactica, while SPARTACUS is like Star Wars.

ROME was like the Conan rpg, while SPARTACUS is like high fantasy D&D.

ROME was more realistic, based on history, and fairly close to being "historical", while SPARTACUS is like a heroic, graphic novel interpretaton of history.

I love ROME.

I'm loving SPARTACUS.

If I could just pick one to continue on TV, week after week, year after year, I'd go with ROME, but without it, I'm damn happy with SPARTACUS.

Part of my admiration for SPARTACUS is that its turning out to be so much more than what it promised to be. Man, it could have easily been a one-trick-pony, relying on the graphic novel presentation of the gore each week.

But, instead, it's a damn good show. Remove the gore, and the show is still good.

NOt to contradict my earlier post, but to clarify and elaborate on what Supplement 4 mentioned, Spartacus is very good even w/o the gore.

I truly love the Roman intrigue between Batiatus, his wife (the actess who played XENA the Warrior Princess; shes often buck naked, red-headed, and very devious: just my type), the senatorial/magisterial class
(Batiatus aspires to become), and the syrian house-slave.

The intrigue portion alone is enough to sustain it as a great show.
I do look forward to the next season.

THe fighting scenes are terrific, mind you they draw very heavily from the SPARTAN 300 type graphic novel-to-movie editing and graphics. I love watching it, but I still prefer the Titus Pullo vs. the 7 gladiators realism that we saw in the 1st season episode 7 or 8 of Rome, that was incredible!

I've seen the trailer, I've read reviews and now this topic here. Damn, I wish I could watch it but sadly it's not on my cable yet.

You can see it on its web site for free.

Or, the first half of the season is on DVD, and you can get it through Netflix.

I've only been able to see the first two episodes on the webpage is there some where else you can see more episodes. I don't have netflicks nor do i think i could get them that way.

Thanks

spartacusbloodandsand.com did the trick. Thanks, Supplement Four. It'll do till I get a DVD.

Now the Spartacus Sunday is about to begin :)

Yeah, the Netflix Roku player which allows streaming HD video is the bomob one of the best investments I've made.

I just watched episode 13.

I guess there will no longer be any Roman intrigue.
The slave revolt has begun!
Crucify them!

Not so fast...

The dude playing the lead has been diagnosed with Cancer. They caught it on a check up during the shoot. This is delaying the second season.

What the producers have decided to do is shoot a prequel without (or with little of) the actor playing Spartacus, showing the Roman events that led up to the first episode.

It's only the sixth time that blood is going to spill on the sand on my display but I prefer the Roman-vs-Roman part actually. The visual side of gladiatorial combats is simply too overdrawn for me.

I can wait for the uprising continued.

Bad news for the guy. I'm sorry he has cancer.

However, I must say this is pleasing news to me. The Batiatus storyline was the only thing (other than the many nude women....) that I found at all interesting about the show. More of that storyline would be welcome to me.
