Jump Drive C impossible in a 100-ton ship?

Note that MegaTraveller's (and TNE's) lower jump fuel requirements were compensation for the vastly higher power (in MT) or maneuver

Actually, in MT your PP didn't power the J-drive. Ergo, your PP did not have to be as powerful if you had a lower M-drive, as it is in MGT.

The Power plant was decoupled from the jump drive, yes. But that wasn't driving power plant size in MT in any case.

It was the high power requirement for the M-Drive and the weapons that increased power plant size, and the scale-up from Striker's numbers to starship scale that caused the power plant to need huge amounts of fuel. A Free Trader with a full rack of lasers in its two turrets was burning the vast majority of its power plant fuel for the lasers. When work-arounds for this were finally figured out (five years later), MT ships became much more reasonable. Without those work-arounds, CT ships can't be touched by MT ships until TL14 or 15.

Correct. However, a high Jump and low M drive # makes MT ships more optimized than most MGT non-capital ships as far as tonnage needed. Especially at higher TL's.

It was a many-stepped trap that DGP built themselves into. While a lot of their stuff was really good, the "TL15 is the only TL worth having" vibe got old very quickly.
