You might be right, I confess. I guess I prefer to keep an illusion than the truth since those books got me into Conan. Call it thinking the best of authors.

Even if I can't do it for the originals.

Anybody working in the publishing business for a little bit quickly loses that...

thank you, I've already experienced that burn on numerous occasions.

But I'll maintain my naive faith.

This may sound bad as we are all Conan fans, but I like Jordan's Conan stories a lot and in some way, better. NOw I don't like them "better" but rather "differently." Howard's focus is Conan. While the protagonist in Jordan's work is also Conan, I get a lot more of the world and the other players in his stories. I like that at least as a change of pace. It was Jordan's conan work that made me pick up the Wheel of Time and I overall, happy I did.

So, jordan does an excellent job telling about what is going on around Conan and that is a nice change. :) There is less of the philosophy and less of Conan and less Pulpy stuff, but it is still a good read.

Heretic!

I found Jordan's Conan to be the best out of all the pastiche novels but personally i still dont think they are anywhere near as good as the original.
