I was going through my notes the other day and I realized that the data as to what people are interested in for Traveller is about 4 years old. MgT has changed alot since then and I was wondering what you are interested in. So please vote in the poll and tell us more about what you are interested in. Please share below more about what you would like to see. A vote for more equipment is helpful but not as helpful as a vote for equipment and you telling us that you are looking for post TL 20 equipment (if that is what you want to see).

Thank you in advance.

I think I am the one that mentioned this before about higher TL equipment, yes, I would like that. Ships with useable deck plans are nice, and encounters (both animal and otherwise) I would be interested in. Higher TL (9-15) vehicles would be interesting, or something different at standard TL's like a mole or airship-dreadnaught; I do not want to see TL7 tanks and cars, I can find plenty of specs on those.

Other: I love Traveller as a roleplaying engine, but not too much has been written on "cinematic" elements that could be added to the game. As options, they could be added to or alter the main science-fiction focus of the game.

I would like to see the idea of "Special Techniques" as found in Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog supplements expanded. For those who do not have those books, they are like, well, feats ala the d20 SRD. They allow you to do things that are not normally allowed within the context of the core rules, like wielding and using two weapons in a combat round (that one already exists in the two supplements). Instead of getting a skill level in character generation, you may receive a special technique. Some are powerful, true, but they represent something learned in 4 years of your career.

I only play 2300AD and Orbital so I want ships with spin habitats, no anti-grav, and hard sci-fi weaponry.

Tech/Equipment:
A.Low Tech! I would like to see more low tech items TL0-4.
Also I would like to see an expansion of TL0-TL4 to allow for better delineated representation on isolated worlds, historical settings and even for use in fantasy settings. The TL scale is compressed at the low end. Other games have done this. Compare examples from:
GURPS
WotC supplement Arms & Equipment Guide
Ravenloft Campaign Setting
TORG

where the low end of the TL is greatly expanded on. This has been done slightly before in TNE with the idea of "mature" TLs to show differences in equipment (TL3 vs TL3M). Once you have the scale set, you can drop old and new equipment onto the new scale.

Sort of this, but I'd also be interested in non 3I and sort of B5/Aliens (the movie) type tehcnology as well.

Other Times/Settings
TL 0-3 settings, with our without "xenomorphs". MtG already did a TL 4 setting.

A steampunk setting (alter the TL scale or what tech is available at what TL). Altering the "laws of physics" for that universe means you are still in "science fiction" setting, just one that uses different physics and technology principles. Once disbelief is suspended, the setting should be no more wonky than the OTU. Rules-wise this could be a simple as using a method to alter mass and costs for computers as done in the Core Rules, but applying it to other tech items.

A dimension hopping setting: GURPS and Alternity had supplements for them. Fringeworthy is a dimension hopping RPG. They all had different ways to cross with different tech and relavant rules to systemize and record the new universes/dimensions entered.

A true swords and sorcery setting, where the magic is not based on psions for once...

Further development of the Point Buy character generation system.

With things like Advantages/disadvantages, racial features etc... etc....

Maybe some rules on how to include the above into random career table generation....

Just a pet idea I have been kicking around...

I've seen others with interest in this but have trouble understanding why. One reason I play this game vs others is for the space, sci fi, futuristic, high tech aspects.

The low tech stuff exists already. Can't you just google it?

Not to pile on the bandwagon, but WHY low tech?

It always has been a head scratcher for me too.

There a few reasons.
I COULD just port over the D20 SRD equipment list with a systematic conversion, and call it a day (if you have read my other posts, you might infer I have done that already), but...

1.Traveller is one of the core rules systems I like using for all purposes. When I don't want deadly combat or want "level-based", I play D20. Otherwise I prefer BRP or Traveller.
2.Many of my games involve low tech societies, either in time travel, historical, dimension travel, crashlanding, post apocalyptic, etc. Guess I can't get swords and blasters out of my head. Guess I should get Gamma World and Dumarest stuff out of my head.
3.I like to see (and buy) other people's opinions on things.
4.Low Tech items are just about the only thing left that has not been done for Traveller to do cross-genre, or pure fantasy setting. Worlds Apart did some, but I want it to be outright compatible with the MgT Core Rules.

Heck I am not asking for a Traveller magic system. There are three Traveller licensed or compatible supplements with non-psionic based magic systems (Mongoose's Strontium Dog, Flynn's Guide to Magic in Traveller, Worlds Apart) and another that is psion based (Terra/Sol's Netherell).

So far the results are #1 tech (not surprising), #2 more careers and non 3I-based ships (both of which are a little surprising, but understandable), and #3 adventures.

Is there anything in specific that you would like to see? Big ships, little ships, careers similar to a specific movie or book, robots, computers, guns, do you want fully fledged out adventures or merely tools to make your own adventures like fully fledged out space stations or planets? What would you pike to see?

This I agree with. Also:

Equipment so long as it is not guns (Central Supply Catalogue has that covered thoroughly)
Ships that are 3I compatible
Ships that use alternate drives (hyperdrives are my preference)
Ships that, regardless of type, are not bigger than 20,000 tons
Premade adventures (I don't care where they're located so do some of each)
Fantasy stuff (I have those careers I occasionally mention)

I'd like the idea of opening out Traveller to incorporate some of the gonzo ideas from different kinds of science fiction universes:-

- Stargate travel, for want of a better word;

- Organic starships;

- REALLY huge ships and BDOs ranging from million-tonne monsters to the fifty-billion ton, 675 cubic kilometre behemoth from my dream setting, "The Waiting Stars;"

- Drives capable of really impossible accelerations - 100 to 600 G;

- Galactic stardrives capable of intergalactic travel a la Destiny from Stargate Universe;

- and similar ideas, around which entire campaigns can be based, such as time travel and dimensional travel.

On the topic of organic spaceships, I would point out that nobody has done a good biotech sourcebook for Traveller yet. And the concept of pantropy - adapting human beings to alien environments - goes back at least as far as James Blish' The Seedling Stars (1957). And then there's the whole unexplored area of the posthuman condition that dominates modern hard SF...

Also, I'd love to see a book on how to run Traveller in a setting where no FTL drive systems exist at all. People such as Alastair Reynolds (House of Suns), Charles Stross (Neptune's Brood), and Sean Williams (Astropolis trilogy) have demonstrated that it is still possible to have space opera adventures in such a setting - but travel between star systems will take centuries at relativistic speeds.

Someone over on travellerrpg.com asked for a new poll on the 6 year old poll. Seeing as how this one is a mere 1 year old, I thought I would necro (ummm... Cyber-animate) this thread. What would you like to see?

I have all the old adventures in the LLB format from the classic Traveller days plus the various magazines filled with adventures. I think Traveller gamers could use more access to pre-made adventure book either full campaigns or collections of adventures featuring varieties of locales and encounters. I think a lot of gamers must be overwhelmed by the multitude of world possibilities and never sure how to run adventures.
