Cosmic Mongoose
On distant worlds in the deepest regions of space, unknown creatures await unwitting explorers. Close to home, devious politicians and gangsters lure native wild life to carry out their dirty work while maintaining denyability. On a frontier outpost, primitive life forms walk the uninhabited regions hoping claim the civilized place as their new home. Be prepared no matter where your players go. Be ready with the Creatures of Distant Worlds.

Necro-Soldiers carry out their tasks from beyond the grave. With a computer for a mind and dead heart for a soul, these merciless troops complete their mission with deadly accuracy.

Necro-Soldiers is now available for download to all Subscribers and will be available alone on 25 May 2009.

“Traveller” and the Traveller logo are Trademarks owned by Far Future Enterprises, Inc. and are used with permission. The Traveller Main Rulebook is available from Mongoose Publishing.

These Necro-Soldiers are a truly frightening idea ...

Yea, I wanted them to scare the crap out of crap. Between plausability and just how easy it would be to face such a gruesome creature on mainstreet of randomworld, I thought these would provide an unexpected element of horror out of nowhere.

Transhuman Space has something similar... "necroshells" IIRC. Essentially they are dead bodies with computer implants in which uploaded intelligences can reside and control the bodies. Not sure if they have other implants to prevent physical decay of the body though, don't think they did.

Sounds a bit of a mashup of UniSols from (Universal Soldier), Necromancers (Chronicles of Riddick) and Terminators... Sweet!

...with the ability to switch bodies.

Reminds me of the idea that I stole from ABC Warriors comic (by 2000AD). In the comic (and in my Space Master campaign) they were called Psycho Bikers. I am not entirely certain if they were undead in the comic but in my campaign they were cybernetically enhanced undead driving motorcycles and shooting automatic shotguns. Very deadly and hard to kill opponents.

At least I liked them so the Necro-Soldiers sound very cool to me :)

Does anyone remember those reanimated cops in Sinister Dexter, that were used to take over Downlode way back in the day?

Those creeps were damned hard for the gunsharks to kill. And it was the Mangapore Yak behind it all, using a bent cop as their catspaw, unless I'm mistaken.
