iTabletop for online play

Looks interesting, downloading now.
Let me know if there's further interest in a group (I don't GM, horrible at it :P)

I tried it but it woon't work on a 64-bit OS because it requires a Flash player, and they don't have a 64-bit version. Well, that's what the error messages tell me. A pity as it looks very good.

I'm going to try and set up a West Coast North America one Via Screenmonkey 1.5.

Had one trial run, which went fine (Save that I've run into a known XP Chat box problem but the work around well... works)

One problem was that the given maps tend to be small and the Scanned maps rather big memory wise. What I did was to photo-stitch some smaller maps together so now when I stage an encounter its not at shotgun range from the get go.

The bonus of the screenmonkey is that only the GM has to pay for it and even then the lite (free) version would of been fine enough.

Mind I'll keep an eye on the itable as SM1.5 doesn't have VOIP capability

Take care

I too have been looking over various RPG-over-internet options. Over the years, my 'net-based group has been using good-old IRC to run our games. However there are times when combat has become a bit confusing trying to figure out just what is where (e.g. friends, allies, cover, etc).

I downloaded iTabletop to see what it can do, and ScreenMonkey is an interesting option given that I'm also own Fractal Mapper. Another interesting option would be
Fantasy Grounds. While that one looks cool, I don't think I'm keen on the option of all the players having to buy a copy to use it.

I'm pretty much confined to virtual tabletops for my gaming for now. Currently I use (depending on the game) either Fantasygrounds, Battlegrounds RPG, or MapTool. I've had my eye on iTabletop for awhile, but I'm still waiting for a few features to pop up before I run a game using it.

Like you, I'm also looking to play as well, been GM'ing for awhile and need to take a break. I also have another player from my group ready to play as well. We've been trying to recruit some players on another board as I might GM a game in the near future.

What day and time do you want to play?

Also, not sure if you're interested, but there's a site devoted to virtual tabletop gaming.

www.fouruglymonsters.com

My gaming group, Room 227, is currently recruiting for an online Trav game, stop on by, maybe we can organize something.

Thanks for the link... Definately Vista looking. Have a friend downloading it so we can connect together.

I looked over Screen Monkey originally but kind of liked the features of iTabletop. This is all theory as I haven't run a game over the net in several years. The last one I did was a Chill game on WebRPG.

The best gaming night for me would be either Friday or Saturday, but a Sunday afternoon could be scheduled. Where I live now, role playing is still seen as, at best, deviant, and at worst, training wheels for devil worship, so I'm extremely motivated to get an online group going.

If you do set one up for Traveller, let me know and I'll see if I can make it regularly.
