Just want to know if it's useful at all, it doesn't seem to be.

And with a few ISD's that are a little odd...

call it simple curiosity.

I am considering starting a campaign during the Earth Minbari War. If I can get enough interest ISD's will be used.

Otherwise, no.

Never, though we did think about it. The dates are a bit odd sometimes, and produce too many conflicts with the metal folks own that they want to use.

The main problem with in service dates is that you can eliminate whole fleets. Shadows & Vorlons are out after 2261, ISA is out before then.

Dilgar are out after 2232 (ish) and Drakh are out before 2261, too, I seem to recall. That's just the nature of the setting. Anything goes games are fine, but I'd rather see a campaign with a more accurate focus. Plus it challenges players to change their fleet lists if their best toys aren't in service yet.

If one player only has a Shadow fleet and one only has an ISA fleet, one of them is in trouble. :)

Almost always in campaigns, but then I pick a suitable date for all the involved fleets and usually play "themed" campaigns (War of Retribution, EA/Minbari war or whatever). No Crusade-era EA vs. the Dilgar !

Not that there's anything wrong with ignoring them, just a matter of taste.

Sort of.

For our current campaign, we set a year for it and allow anything that was available before that point. So even though it's in 2250, the Dilgar can still play (apparently we all missed a colony of theirs back in '32...)

We are about to start 3 linked campaigns that will all use ISDs. The three groups will then merge after the Dilgar War, Earth Minbari War, and War of Retribution Campaigns to loosely follow the chronology of the show after the Fall of the Narn. It is possible that the Narn do not fall.

We will then be using ISDs throughout that larger campaign with each turn being something like 3 months. I am running this event and playing in at least 1 if not 2 of the mini campaigns before we come back together as one group. I am then going to step back and moderate the campaign during the Shadow War period using a combo of Technomage ships, Raiders, Ancients and maybe the Soul Hunters ship as a kind of stuff happens fleet.

Once we get done with the Shadow War, providing that the Army of Light wins, I will then get to break out my Drakh. If they don't win, I am not sure what will happen. I am still curious why the Drakh are entirely excluded before 2261, if you read the novels it seems apparent that they are at least somewhat active at that time. Even the RPG book on the Drakh makes it seem like they were just held on the bench, not entirely out of the picture.
