Is the Traveller OTU going to be OGL?

I'm just wondering why people think that they're entitled to a "low cost" license to use the Charted Space setting. It's a license just like any other, why should it be cheaper than normal?

Not entitled, but as mentioned above, hopeful.

Given the relatively low buy in cost to self publish by selling PDFs and/or POD hard copies these days, it's much easier for individuals to go into business for themselves. However, also given the realistic expectation of limited sales, and hence limited profits, a low or no cost license is about the only way to make it work. Freelancing for Mongoose is an option but it doesn't provide the same degree of freedom. Giving away material through your own website just doesn't provide much incentive to put in the time; anybody can do it and as your own company, even if you only break even, you're still a real life publisher.

Owners of IP absolutely deserve to reap the rewards of their creativity but I also think there's a business case to be made for small niche publishers to support and generate interest in an RPG line by offering their own products.
