Is anything going to happen with Modern Combat?

I have 3 of the 4 armies of the old evolution minis and I'm fine for what I have. In fact, I will be running an event at the end of the month at a local con here in Florida using the Modern Combat rules and evo miniatures.

It would be nice to see new stuff but really what else is there? Most of the goodies are in the MC Book. What I would like to see is someone make cards for the MC book.

MC cards are on the way. I think Ben's still wrapping up some formatting issues.

As for other stuff, I'm in the middle of proofing our first Variables of War book (Night Fighting), and playtesting our USAF book.

Please bear in mind that you cannot just make unit cards on Mongoose intellectual property!
You can do so for material that is Open Content (so that would be the example British Army list of the Developer pack for Modern Combat).

Not for everything else.
Make sure to contact Matt before doing anything illegal!

Soonish? I've been working on them for a bit now.

I should just give up waiting for the proofreader to get back to me and send the latest revision of the WaW cards to Matt too.

Nobody has worked on a Vietnam War supplement? I gather soldiers and vehicles (and helicopters) for that, but i really lack time to make an army list.

Two thoughts.

Given that Mongoose's attempt at minis manufacturing did not work as well as one might have hoped, Plan B really should be something on the order of acknowledging specific manufacturers out there as "official." With that in mind, it would be worth finding out who the readily available companies are. I understand that East Riding makes a nice range of 20mm modern figures, however, the cost of getting them shipped here (US) from there (UK) is prohibitive. Unfortunately, they appear to be my only source for a Stinger team.

I'll not even get into the problem with soft plastics.

The other difficulty with Modern is the fluid nature of the era and hence the need for updating miniatures collections fairly regularly. My current group of US Infantry has the Kevlar vest of the late 80's and 90's, not the current body armor. Pre-modern historical miniatures need no updating; I would suspect I am not alone in feeling more comfortable with investing such large sums of money in miniatures that don't change much.

Both of these factors contribute to lower interest overall in moderns vs pre-moderns.

That's the problem with technology, Wkehrman.

Take modern miniatures as more of a representation of the current hardware and head off from there.
