US offered F-22 for export - to Israel. I guess that some other proven US allies could buy them - if they wanted to.

Quite amusing.

I wonder if the other '5% of its capabilities' is the VTOL? If so I wouldnt call it all that classified since most military nerds already know that part (hell F-35s are show using said capability in pretty much every work of fiction with them in these days, admittedly that could all be misinformation but I somehow doubt it )

I would doubt that it’s VTOL.... seeing as RAAF are getting the "A" and not the "B"

Maybe that mystery "5%" is the rumored laser capability of the F-35A\C, apparently by removing the fan that provides the lift for vertical take off and landing, you are left with enough space and excess power generation to mount some cool stuff.

if it is VTOL.... well I guess that 5% is the fact that if we do need a plane to sit on our mini carriers we can easy buy, maintain and man the F-35B if we go ahead with buying the 100 F-35A as we would already have the infrastructure done for most of the plane.....
