Hello All
I recently purchased RQ Trolls: A Guide to the Uz and noticed that the binding quality and finishing of the book was of a lesser standard when compared to previous RQ books. Also the sizing of the hardback cover was smaller, again when compared to previous publications.
My observations were (1) the thin sheet binding the pages to the cover was creased all along the spine both front and back, (2) the pages themselves were bound at an angle, (3) the replacement of the thicker white inner cover with a thin sheet, (4) the pages were not tightly bound to the spine (possibly caused by (1), and (5) the logo and book title along the spine was off centre and wrapped around to the front bookcover.
It would appear that the cause could be the switch from publishing in China to the UK at your own printing facilities (I assume that all future books will now be published in-house).
While I am judging all books from a single example I would be interested to know whether all books will now appear with the slightly smaller cover and will you be looking to improve the binding and finishing quality of future books?
These are only minor points and I know the saying of judging a book by its cover! But I would not like to see a slip in quality of what is a great range of books!
