Ideas for 2e

ive had an idea in my head for a whiole now and it is this;

Where/if it says Carrier X or which craft it carries in the ships special rules, add one of the following F,P,S,A (for Forward, Port etc) specifying which direction/side the fighters are launched,

eg

Poseidon Carrier 4 P S
Or
Omega Craft; Starfuries 4 F

It might not sound like much but i think it could make a difference, as it would affect how quickly a carrier can bring its fighters to bear, and how easily it is to pick them up. For instance the avenger would have problems picking up its fighters if its moving, as described in the fluff, or if the fighters want to dock in an omegas hangar, they have to get in front of it. It may sound silly but it wouldnt take too much time to put in the fluff but could add quite a bit to fighter heavy games.

not excited or against - How does it work with bases - ie can you put a ship in front of the Omega to stop the fighters coming out?

Interesting idea but not sure it helps the game..........I am sure, however, greater minds than I will say!? :D

i hadnt thought about that. I suppose their would be room for the fighters to be launched and theyd have to turn pretty sharpish, and move out of the way. That way a ship near the hangars could attackthe fighters as soon as they leave the hangers, but the fighters could attack the ship, would probably be better than saying the hangars are blocked, instead, the fighters have just enough space to move out of hangars and turn so they dont fly into the other ship!

I like the idea. It's more detail, which I approve of, without being clunky. Of course, we need to know where the hangars are on every ship for it to work. Can you see the hangar on a Corvan? I can't... ;)

The Corvan is losing its fighters in 2nd ed for that reason....

Noooooo!

Actually, I don't care. A ship that small shouldn't have any.

Hopefully, Centauri fighters will be worth using, and available in enough numbers to make them significant...

While I'd want to check the shows first, I could see the base WS losing it's fighters, maybe to make the WS II a slight bit more useful. The only time we see a WS actively using fighters is S5, I believe.

in S&P 43 theres an article about 2e and it says that the normal white star will lose its fighters but gain the scout trait while the WSC 2 becomes the white star 2 and is raid level and has fighters and no scout trait, while the gunship becomes battle level to replace the WSC 2

if some of the smaller ships are losing their fighters then itll be even easier to work out where the hangar doors are, thus making my idea even easier to implement

someone once said fighters are too slow in this game. you now want them to come out specific sides of a ship? wont make any differance whatsoever in game terms, few mm for the stem and thats it.

You may well be pleased then :)
