I see a dark sail on the horizon

Cosmic Mongoose
Cryptic title...
Can you guess what it is yet?.. (As Rolf would say)...
Work In Progress. Been nagged enough to do one, I don't just mean here... :)

Heh, that's a blast from the past :) Somehow I'd never associated it with Traveller :? That other game yes...

...of course now my afternoon is going to be shot digging out oldies and trippin down memory lane 8) (I think that's a thank you ;) )

Looking forward to your take on the classic :)

also ... what was the big battleship in Space Vikings? That was a vast globe with death-dealing lasers and nuclear missiles ...

EDIT: the Nemesis. But I see I'm wrong!

A little further along and the hardest fiddly bit...turrets!

Does look a little like the Asimov, note to the painting crew do not use Green....

Ignore the lines, its being built in quarters sections
Not too sure about the turret scale, mind you it depends which drawing you have...

Oh yeah, you'll be wanting that as you get into it ;)

Fixed that for you ;)

Chameleon! (odd, I don't recall my default background being that shade of green, but I havn't cracked open SU in a while :( )

I do see you're as clever as I am though, pasting reference pics right into SU :)

Looks about right to me. The real test, well, one of anyway, is getting the scale right. You do know the original published deckplans in CT were way off right?

Another thing you may do a head-desk or two over (from my work on this a while back, long stalled) are the fergackin Cutters and Modules. How to make them fit into the proper size hull (it's tight, I was tempted to make them pass right through at one point, or revert to the original Pinnace versions). How to make the modules fit (as tight or tighter). And how to transfer crew and materiel between the horizontal Broadsword decks to the 90deg turned Cutter decks. Of course my gripe there is the fault of my sticking to my own narrow opinion on how AG works, so you can probably ignore that one and safe a couple Aspirin :)

Certainly, expect more Jethro Tull quotes, certainly a tricky ship. Spheres are a quite hard, but I'm building in 1/4 sections so that'll help alot.

Thanks, that is what you get when you write posts tired....

Cracking tip it is. I'd scanned the FFE Adventures Book, got the side and top views in there, I used it when I built the Luftkissenpanzer....
Great for car models, so I have seen.

Ah good, to be honest I'd heard the maps where abit off. Perhaps its worth me doing the hole shebang, maps and all.
Perhaps someone can point me in the correct direction of what is wrong, why and how to fix. Not even thought about the cutters yet...yoiks.

Sorry, I meant to reply to this earlier and it slipped my mind. Thanks for the bump and reminder BP :)

A good corrected scale set of deckplans of the original can be found here:

http://www.sff.net/people/kitsune/traveller/

You'll note the solution choice of having the cutters partly external. I'm sure I'd got mine to fit inside per the original but it was giving me fits making the rest fit. I haven't turned up my stalled work yet, might be on the old compy or a backup somewhere if I didn't just chuck it all figuring to start over from scratch. It was about that bad :)
