I know you probubly get alot of these but here we go any way. I want to start ISA but dont know how to play know one I know can play so what sould I buy frist the rule book? the army? mabe the starter set? so come help me out and tell me what you think and any advise

The 2nd Edition rules are due out in August, so you might want to wait for that. You could always pick up the starter set if you're desperate to get started as it has counters for the Narn and Centauri included. I wouldn't recommend buying any fleets until you've tried out a fair few games with counters and find one you particularly like. A full counter set is available for the current edition and I'd expect a new set to appear soon after the new rules with all the new ships included.

beging or end of the mounth? but I really want to play couldnt I buy the pices then when the stuff comes out I get the rule book and some new pieces and learn to play the new way because there shouldnt be that big of a diffrents? what ya think?

You could buy some of the White Stars, an ISA box set, or some of the other fine ISA ships, although your primary ship is the basic White Star. You could bide your time building those and painting them up before trying out the actual game. At the very least, the models are very cool for B5 fans even if you don't like the game, but I am quite sure you will. It is a very fun game. I think the new rules are due mid-August, depending on your location.

And if you need opponents, there is also Vassal and the B5 ACTA mod for online play.

The reason they're suggesting you wait is to save you money. If you honestly don't care about money, then you shouldn't have too much trouble switching to the new system. Having said that, in a few months whatever you dropped on the books would basically be wasted money.

You might want to have two small fleets, instead of larger single fleet. If you have two fleets, then you could encourage your friends to get into the game by lending them your secondary fleet for a battle.

As the guys said hold till the end of Aug when the 2 hardbacks are out and in the mean time start with the ISA fleet box ton get you started

Warning:: The Victorys are very heavy

ISA fleetbox. Practically instant fleet which you can paint while waiting for new rules.

That would be what I would choose.

Agreed. No ship in the fleetbox will vanish from the ISA fleet list, so that's pretty safe. If you do paint, remember you'll want a way to tell your Aux Craft Whitestars from your Scout Whitestars; presumably with a notation on the base or some such. I'd also bet on wanting Bluestars, and likely a Whitestar Carrier.

I must have missed this in the updates... With the Scout and Aux Craft White Stars does this mean there's now a difference between the Shadow War era WS and the 5th season WS with Nials? Or WS AS Aux Craft?

Scout? on a warship? oh dear. I must have missed that episode.

(and I mean warship in a combat sense, not priority sense. )

I'd guess Shadow Dancing where Ivanova and Marcus scout the "ambush site" in sector 83, and The Long Night, where a WS gets footage of the inside of a Shadow Planet-killer.

ahh, so the G'Quan should get it too, as it was sent to scout out zaha dum, implying it has scout capeability

the point still stands that it was sent to scout, the fact that it got biatched by two shadow ships is neither here or there, it's as canon as JPB's are

Perhaps you can not Scout the turn you exit hypersapce?

I got the impression they diverted a Heavy Cruiser to have a look - slightly begrudeingly and it would have a cursory sweep of the "dead world"? If it had survived!

Just because something got sent to scout, doesn't mean it is any good at it!

Only competent scouts get the Scout trait.
