Well it would not be without a precedent. Mongoose did have a limited edition metal cover version of the Judge Dredd RPG.....

But I think this is just Amazon being their usual inept selves.

Amazon has its share of ineptness...but it also has its share of greedy booksellers who know people/institutions will settle for any price to get an item. Given that postage is fixed. Then the seller has to make money on the price and recoup the multiple listings, so they list high.
