lubering: Am i reading it right, can a ship never move more than once, so no Spec actions or planets? it seems obvious but i thought id check

wait, it should just be question....

It may only make a single turn, but this turn may be increased by Come About! or AS&P! It can't get a second turn from gravity wells though.

It can't or it can get the turn from gravity wells? Since gravity well movements and turns allow ships to move and turn greater than ther maximum turn/speed ratings, I would expect that even a lumbering ship would be eligable for the turn from a gravity well. That needs to be clarified.

Hmm, I was only going on instinct here, not rules so if they are worded like that then the rules would of course take precidence :)

I would say the grav-well rules are representing an law of nature and happen AFTER the movement phase so would bypass lumbering (in a similar manner that lumbering ships arent immune to gravitic shifters!).

I should aslo add that unless I misread it, gravity well movement is COMPULSORY. The extra move forward cannot be avoided if you stop with the planet in your forward arc inside the grav well, it just happens.

The extra movement is compulsory but the extra turn it provides is optional. I would assume, based on the rule, that lumbering ships get the extra movement but cannot make the extra turn.

Might need a Rulesmaster thread then. Compulosry movement is outside of normal movement, and happens in the end phase of turn ie running adrift. If Grav well movement is compulsory, does it happen during normval movement or compulsory movement?

just reread the rules, i agree slingshot effect is some sort of compulsory movement as you have no choice of doing it or not if you end up fulfilling the conditions (we played it wrong on our first game, apparently  ) but nothing in the rule says it clearly.

So, End phase or Movement phase ?

New Gaim Based Question:

I can understand the dodge, speed and dogfight going down when the fighters go overloaded missiles, but why in the name of jesus socks does the hull go from three to four???????????????????????????????????
(not that im complaining, my vree are lost without the hordes of missiles)

Because the pilot has locked in the course and becomes redundant. Consider the Hull point as the reduced need for a pilot.

Gravity well movement compulsory? I never saw it as such - I figure that a slingshot is such a complicated manouvre you can't do it accidently. I've just reread it and although it say a ship is moved 'automatically' the final senrenace includes 'may'. So I guess it's up in the air. I've also been playing it that the extra movement comes in hte Movement phase - as it's under the control of the ship's crew.

Cheers
Mark
