How to stop Gaim Swarms?

have to bring multiple carriers for that which means not many queens. in a balanced 5 pt battle force i had 116 fights and 54 breaching pods.

Againt which races did you play? With this number of b-pods and fighters you should have nuked or captured your opponent quiet easy, accepting Narn with their own e-mines?

I can see your point, but 108 fighters at raid is a bit too much imo. You cannot stop most with af. And what about battle-level games, how many fighters can Gaim bring to such engagements? 300+ ?
I think the thing most people are forgetting is that the Klikkitak is the Gaim's primary weapon and is only one-shot. Consider it in this light rather than as a fighter horde and you'll see much more clearly what the problem you are facing is and why you don't have to stop all of them.

If the Narn are really lucky they can dump E-Mines so they hit both fighters and carriers. With that many fighters some might have no choice but to be mixed in. Heck, Narn players might be willing to drop E-Mines in nasty furballs consisting of a mix of Narn capital ships, Gaim cap ships, and fighter swarms. Even if they haven't become suicide bombs and pass the Fleet Carrier survival roll, this gives the Narn another turn to pound the carriers in hopes of killing a few(and whatever regenerated fighters are in them) and thus gutting some of the Gaim thrust.

Of course this is all theory as I don't have my 2nd Edition stuff yet.

The Pak'Ma'Ra and Brakiri also have area effect attacks right? So they should be able to operate similarly to the Narn as a reaction to the Gaim. The EA while not having the fighter swarm of the Gaim have lots of fighters still so combined with their ships presumably being more combat capable should also have a good shot. The ISA, Drakh, and Minbari strike me as possibly the most vulnerable races since it sounds like the Gaim strengths specifically exploit their weaknesses.

Sounds about right.

The Takata is one of the most brutal fighter-clearance ships out there, and fleet carrier or no fleet carrier it'll be worth its weight in gold against Gaim swarms.

Of course ISA have the option of allies that the others do not.............
