How many points are you playing?

I've played a number of single ship v single ship duels as we work out the rules, and we're now ready to try bigger games.

How many points are you guys playing?

Also, how many points do you recommend, assuming all of the players are sufficiently familiar with the rules?

I would suggest at least 1000pts - IMO ACTA works best with a good number of ships on each side plus terrain

If demoing for newcomers, we tend to go with 500 points.
For battles between us for fun, 1000 - 1500 points.
If it's a lot of guys wanting a big fleet action, 2500 points per side.

We're running 1000pts for the time being, looking to double that once people get more models.

We've been running random points as per the campaign rules.

We're limited to 1500 max, Feds and Klingons only, by the number of 2400 series Klingons I have. The others will have to wait on the eventual arrival of 2500 series goodness for the other three races.

Played a 1000 point "We come in peace" scenario today, Klingons v Federation. Took 5 hours. Nothing special about the time length, just some extra maneuvering and asteroid belts made for longer game.

We are running 1000 point games attempting to fully digest the rules. We know in the first game we totally botched the Drone/ADD/Dual rack rules. This alone will change the game entirely.

Game number 2 this weekend, and it will also be a 1000 point game, we'll see how it goes. Want to work on speeding up play also. It took 4.5 hours to eplain the rules and play 3 turns last time.

Limited by the fact that we each have one Squadron Each, whatever the point totals for that is. We fluctuate between 900 - 960.

We really arent using points, simply putting the Klingon Squadron vs. the Federation Squadron.


Our intentions though are to get to 1000 - 1500 once we actually get ships.


Though, having purchased the Squadron Box, the Fleet Box, and an extra pair of frigates and a light cruiser I could field 3000+ easily.

Just being playing between 500-700 points and using the CTA scenario in deep space . Had three games using feds , klingons , and romulan/klingon variants .

Been using the minis from 'Star Trek Fleet Captains ' game from heroclix . I like CTASF easier than SFC and fun . Will get the mega hex set with the counters to expand my games as well
