How Many Pages in Conan 2nd Edition Book?

On the Mongoose publishing site, it says 360. But, on Amazon, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, and other sites it says 160.

How many pages does it have? And, are the books on the Amazon, Walmart, and other sites the real Conan 2nd Edition?

I'm really hoping the 360 page count is right.

Hello, all. I just got an email from Mongoose stating that the page count for the Conan RPG - Second Edition is, indeed 160 pages, not 360 pages.

... I was really looking forward to getting a big Conan book. :(

Just got another email from Mongoose...

Seems there may have been some confusion. 360 pages appears to be right. :D

Must've been some confusion when the three outlets (listed above) got their information on the book.

I was gonna say....

160 would be Conan after a crash-diet with SlimFast!

I want a fatter, stockier Conan (rulebook)! :D

420 pages.

I know this to be true, because I just finished laying it out.

Yarr, that sounds like a thick pile of booty. Are there any plans to put out some sort of teasers or the like as the shipping date draws near? I'm sure many fans of the old versions are very anxious to hear what has been changed and how.

:D

The Atlantean Edition is 352 pages. If the 420 pages are of at least the same quality then 2nd edition is going to be absolutely brilliant!

Can't wait to get it!

One thing I've noticed in the description at Amazon is the following:

"The Second Edition of the wildly sucessful Conan roleplaying game revises and clarifies the existing rules, bringing in the best innovations and optional rules from the supplements, and offering new combat and tactical options for games masters and players, as well as crossover rules for the new Age of Conan wargame!"

If the crossover rules exist, does that mean that the wargame rules are pretty much determined, and if so does that mean that they're coming soon?

420 pages! Is the $34.95 price accurate? - cause I pre-ordered mine at Amazon already! I hope the August 13th date for release is accurate as well.

Krazz, I asked about the AOC compatibility and inclusion in another thread and the 'Goose hasn't responded yet. I'm as intrigued as you on how the AOC will fit into Conan 2e.

"...crossover rules for the new Age of Conan wargame!"

Well thet is best left off as a free PDF supplement.

But, 420 pages at $35!!!

+5, Vorpal!!! :D

Thanks, Chris.

When I saw 160 pages on Amazon, I got a little concerned.

I don't have any of the Conan books, yet. But, the announcement of a new and improved version sounded great. But, losing a few hundred pages from the previous edition would have been scary.

I really hope that the pages at the various online retailers can be corrected so others don't have the same question that I had.

All,

As of this morning, Amazon.com is now listing the Conan RPG 2nd Ed. for $23.07 plus shipping! Already preordered mine. 8)

Thought you all might want to know.

Amazon is not all that good with hooking people up with Conan stuff. I've had trouble with them in the past. Sometimes they list books, then remove or change the listing, give the wrong price (usually too high!), wrong release date, etc.

I usually go with FRPgames instead.

At the increased page count and lower price than the first edition release, its a win-win situation for me at least. My only hope/wish is a streamlined grapple system. I secretly hate the brawl screeching to a halt when I have a player who wants to strangle or pin someone. On the bright side Augest is very very close.

Very true - I tried twice to get Lurking Terror of Nahab and just kept getting the runaround over and over. Finally just canceled the order and picked it up elsewhere. I still get the majority of my books from Amazon or Borders (when they send me a 30% coupon) but I'm really worried about the price for Conan 2e with Amazon - I can just see another Nahab cluster.

But like Jeffreywns posted - it's win win all the way if Amazon can make it happen. I paid $50+tax for the first edition - plus I drove all over Michigan to find it! :)

You know, the last time Mongoose revised the Conan rulebook they added more without adding any extra pages by reducing the the size of the font. If they are going to add all the extra stuff and keep it at 160 pages, then I hope you can read vary, vary, vary fine print. [bloodshoot]

Seriously, I hope they dwarf the fat Everquest PHB and still keep it affordable. :D

I don't have any problem reading the fine print, as long as I remember to bring my Hyborian microscope!
