how dose this game play

Drahazar

Mongoose
I have been eyeing the game was wondering about the mechanics of the game. How dose it play whats it like. I noticed there are no minitures and you have to go get some how come they did not make any. is the game similfied or is it tacticaly challengeing. is it similiar to play B5.

I'm assuming Mongoose didn't do a miniatures range because there are so many suppliers out there. You can pick up a good sized fleet for about £9 on navwar, so it's cheap to get started.

failing that, there are counters supplied with the book to test it out and see if you like it.

the game is very simple compared to others out there. However, the nature of naval warfare is such that the tactical possibilities are literally endless.

IMO its a very fun and exciting game. Most naval simulations I've tried I have found to be on the dull side. . . too much minutia and too much time spent cross referencing things on charts.

Victory at Sea is a fast-play game that offers the opportunity to throw lots of dice and blow stuff up in a hurry. . . while still offering an interesting tactical challenge.

If you're looking for very realistic replays of naval engagements, look elswhere.

If you're looking for a fun naval wargame to play, Victory at Sea is the way to go!

Navwar is a good option for inexpensive ships if you live in Europe/the U.K. If you live in the states, Panzerschiffe is an excellent alternative.
