Help for a reluctant OGL player

Sir Brad

Banded Mongoose
Hey, I don't play Conan, Was offered and tried it out but couldn't get in to it. But I of late acquired the OGL edition of Lone Wolf and was wondering If I could get a copy of the XP table for levels 21-25, Don't need the Advancement tables though it would help.

Thanks Heaps.

In Conan there is no advancement beyond level 20 (unless some recent publication introduced Epic levels)

In D20 in general, the extra XP required to advance to the next level is always (current level * 1000).

So the total XP threshold for any given level n is always (SUM n * 1000), or ((n* n-1) / 2) * 1000.

Hope this helps.

However, I advise against playing to Epic levels and allowing unrestricted multiclassing. The idea of the 20 levels is that you get a payoff at very high levels if you stick to one class. If you multiclass, you get a quick benefit but have to give up the late payoff. With epic levels, you don't have to sacrifice anything.
One D20 game I used to participate in had an interesting multiclass rule: 1. you cannot have more than two classes, including PrCs,
2. you must take at least 10 levels in each class you take
3. maximum level is 30 (or 28 or whatever)
This ensured that only focused, single-classed characters could enjoy the Epic bonuses of any class. It was a pretty good system.

I'm looking at disallowing Multi-Classing all together, but all the Advanced Classes are either five Levels or have "Shadow Levels" (where every 2nd level you advance in your original Class Abilities as well as score some minor thing from your Advanced Class) built in and run for ten levels, in both cases the Theoretical Max Character Level will be 25 that I'm going to set as my Campaign Level Cap, there will be NPC's with higher Character Levels, but their all Legendary Heroes (Lone Wolf, Berenedon, Grey Star ect) who are Semi-Retired and have better things to do than chase down Marauding Gaiks or some Minor Druid plot (Major Druid plots are an other matter though).

Afterthought:

XP in Conan is not regulated anyway. There are no "This monster is worth n XP" tables. As a GM you just give out as many XP as you feel appropriate.
Also, there are no other uses for XP in Conan (as opposed to D&D, where certain spells, item creation etc. costs XP)
Hence, you can just as well cut out the middle step and just tell your players to level up when it fits.

Are you sure about this? I am *almost* sure I have read something in one of the books (Scrolls of Skelos perhaps?) which contradicts the above.

Creating magic items and permanent sorcery leeches off XP in Scrolls/Secrets of Skelos. However, there are spells which burn experience in core rules too. Such as Summon Demon and Children of the Night.

A good way around that is with the Savant class options - which I highly recommend, for ease of play!
