The difference is that Mr. Moorcock acknowledges this influence, and doesn't engage mass production of law and chaos happy meals. You might have learned this in Kindergarten: two wrongs don't make a right. You have to acknowledge that borrowing an idea is a lot different than mass producing a specific group of original characters.
Did you know that Elric is in fact hugely influenced by a character from the Sexton Blake character Msr. Zeinth, a diabolical albino? Mr. Moorcock has repeatedly acknowledged this very strong influence.
Good guys don't try to obfuscate who they get their ideas from. "Took" and "from" is what GW and Chaosium have done. "Influenced" and "by" are more accurate in the case of Moorcock and Paul Anderson, and many others. You can read more about that at MM, where Mike thinks of the whole thing as a soup where you take a little and put a little. Case in point: Reynard the Fox. One of the oldest anthropomorphisms borrowed whole by name and by visage by Mr. Moorcock, used in a completely unique and new way. Haven't heard anyone screaming about that. What? Easy on the guns mate. As I mentioned in another thread, Moorcock is one of my fave writers, along with Vance, Howard and Anderson.

I'd like to point out that I didn't make any negative remarks about you, and I don't intend to flame anyone. I was respectful and direct. You're going to have to face the fact that there are a lot of people who were burned by the afore mentioned companies, including Mr. Moorcock, and he isn't involved with any cycle of theft. Suggesting that he is, even if accidental, is unkind at best.
How awesome is it that Mr. Moorcock is in a deal with the potential to earn him some money and familiar game writers will be able to produce new stuff with a company that is likely to treat them fairly?! I know a couple of people are beside themselves with excitement and I am one of them.

I can see how you can conclude that moorcock inspired vorlons and shadows, but law and chaos fighting are part of the Babylonian myth cycle, which much of the themes and ideas and aspects of Babylon 5 is based off of. Connecting Babylonian and Babylon
However, I do see your point, as Straz... JMS has stated he loves the works of Tolkien, Herbert and others.
